I will post pictures as soon as I can get them on the internet if the "customer" approves. We got pictures of broad steps in the paint job. For those of you that haven't seen this process, it will be worth understanding. There isn't much detail though, and if I see interest in people seeing a start to finish detailed walk through, that could be arranged on the next car. The 240 was red with a white body kit and it was infested with rust. We took off everything ( bumpers, sunroof, mirrors etc.) did all of the prep, then painted it.

The car is now inderlagos BMW blue with a "black top." It was a ppg paint (DBU) base coat clear coat.

While spraying it we didn't see any evidence of metallic. Even after the entire car was painted / cleared, you couldn't see any metallic. When the guy came and picked it up today he was pulling out and I saw the metallic. So I walked up to it to get a better look and notice a little more flake than I could possibly expect.

Now your wondering why I would be dissapointed about this right? Well Im not talking about the blue part. That sure was metallic but so was the black top ( it was jet black paint with clear coat.) My dad didnt think it was metallic so he used the same container to mix the clear as he did to mix the blue paint. He sprayed the entire car with clear and now the entire car has metallic blue.

It looks fucking SPECTACULAR, but it could have been a problem. I showed the guy and offered to fix it and he said he likes it like that. He was aware that it was a mistake but he likes it and doesn't want it to change. We did run out of paint and need to re-do the front bumper but the rest of the car turned out really nice especially in comparison to what it was before!

Moral of the story, don't ASS-ume anything while painting a car. Always dig deep before you start a project and remember that rust is like a virus, it just spreads and spreads. We undercharged a lot on this paint job due to our lack of estimation skills and there were some other obsticals I wont get into.

OWNER of this car - Post if youd like, but if youd prefer people didn't know who you were, that is totally fine with me and I will not tell anyone or post pictures.

Damn, I wanna see that car! Rust is a BIG pain in the ass to remove. Where do you work again? I keep seeing 240's in BP..might this 240 have the rb25 motor in it?

Not many 240s have skyline motors kids. Especially around here. It has an sr20 DET red top. I dont work anywhere with autobody, that gets done in the garage. Daddy paints cars.

There are a couple 240s around here with RB motors. The white/red one with the RB25DET even actually runs.

For pics go there. I guess Carl doesnt care because he posted them himself. The front bumper is getting redone because the paint only has 2 coats and I dont like that. If he ever buffed it, he may burn through.

I have pictures with all the rust showing - partial primer - sealed - painted but still taped. He has volk rims coming. Once he gets those installed, I will post more pics of the finished product.

Looks good minus the body kit :)

Personally would have gone a different route (240 is one of my favorite cars) and made it into an S15 Silvia

looks nice, what do you guys charge to paint? Or is it only something you do for close friends or whatever?

Looks sharp, kit is questionable but it all looks quality. And holy muffler sticking a foot out the back of the bumper!
