Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Hippy, or Communist, I truly hope you take a second and think about freedom after watching this video: http://www.big-boys.com/articles/pattillman.html

He's just another person who gave up the good life for the cause... You know damn well that there are other people just like him who have fallen.

I agree. However, a video like this involving a name in which more than the average number of citizens recognize helps to reiterate the meaning of freedom. It's just unfortunate that men and women have to die for their country for so many people to wake up and at least notice many of their surroundings.

I think Matt is right about others who have done the same and have not been as publicly praised as Pat, but I honestly think Pat was probably the only one on "his" level that gave it all up and then actualy die for his country. Die of friendly fire at that.

I think the fact that he gave up playing a game he loved for millions a year to go risk is life in armed combat is something that you probably won't see again for a long long time, if ever.

What all these guys gave up, is relative to the person who gave it up.Alot of these guys who died, their families that they left to go fight meant just as much to them as Tillmans career and paycheck meant to him.Missing the first years of their kids life is something they could never get back. They all deserve to be remembered and I don't think Tillman is any different than the rest.

I agree, and Pat also gave up family as well as everyone else who has done the same. I think the biggest difference is those who have died before and will die after usually are in the situation as a choice they made when they joined the services. For someone who was already out of any special service obligation and was in a position to make millions and just give it up to go back in the mix isn't someone a normal us military guy might do.

Everyone in the services has my respect, and I don't give Pat anymore respect than anyone else who has fought our battles. I just think Pat situation is elevated not only due to his "celebrity/pro athlete" status, but for the situation he was put in and the choice that he made relevent to that status.

Great video. A friend of mine leaves today to head back to the sandbox after a couple weeks at home. He now leaves his new fiance, friends, and family behind. Say a prayer for all our soldiers. Also, says thanks to any soldier you may see, they did a job you didnt want to. A virtually "thankless" job.

This war is bull.

Every single soldier in that crap hole on the other side of the world should be at home. Screw those middle eastern countries they can continue to kill each other for all eternity as far as I'm concerned.

Don't say a damn word to me about having no respect or not supporting my country I have been in the army for 5 years and my unit spent the last year in Iraq.

So your basically saying that no soldier over there should or does believe in the 'cause' or believes he/she should be there? But I agree that this war is stupid and a lot of American lives have been lost and there will be a lot more to come.
