I have the first S-AFC - the 5 knob one - i have a 50 trim and i was wondering what i should tune the car around - or at least give me ideas - shindley is going to tune it for me but maybe i could give him some help even though he probably won't need it. Or for later reference, just wondering how to work the thing basically. Do I need an A/F Meter for that or what?

Take your car to Elite and have them dyno-tuned it with their wideband. I had pretty decent luck tuning with my EGT gauge and Logger. Before anything else, start reading up on tuning info/theories and go from there. Search Talk and Tooners, there should be plenty of info (also read RRE's basic tuning article).

Sell the 5-knob and get a newer one. What size injectors are you running?

Whats wrong with the 5 knobber?

It only has 5 adjustment points. It doesn't do anything different if you are at 5% throttle or 100% throttle, so if you need to run really rich or lean at some spot at WOT, it will do the same thing at that RPM when you are just trying to cruise. And it doesn't have as much of an adjustment range as the new ones, which can be a problem if you are running big injectors.

Just to add, I really liked my knobby. It was very easy to use and I never had a problem with no hi/low throttle settings.

for the future, i'm completely broke right now because of this turbo and stuff, which S-AFC do u recommend i get, and should i get a A/F meter or gauge? shindley told me he hates the gauges becasue they are always moving around when u drive or something like that, he said just get a A/F meter. - i have a datalogger - the one off of ebay.

A/F gauges are worthless since they're designed for N/A cars. Watching the o2 voltage on your Logger will give you the same info.

Are you sure he did not tell you to purchase a wideband A/F monitoring device?
