Once my new turbo is in and i have some money to get my 1g intake manifold installed i was just wondering what kind of stuff has to be done - i have a 1g intake manifold and i have the 1g throttle body but for my turbo - THE 50 TRIM do u think i should get my 1g intake mani ported or anything ported or just leave it as is - i got my 1g intake manifold along with a 7bolt head and a crankwalked 1g block from CRACKA awhile ago for real cheap. If anyone out there has a 1g intake manifold already ported or something reply to this or email me, i'm open for all your idea's member i know some stuff about dsm's but i'm basically a newbie to half this shit you guy's are talking about. newbie in need - SOS

Its spelled with a K not a C ;) If you have $$$ rolling out of your ass, I'd get the intake manifold extrude honed and have the head ported either by Mike at QPR or by FFWD Connection. Both will help, neither are necessary.

You state that you have a 1g head. To make the the 1g intake mani even be worthwhile you'd have to port the opening of the 2g head to match that of the intake. The 1g intake ports are much bigger than the 2g openings. Your airflow is gonna hit a lip of deal wall and create weird turbulence. I did all kinds of reading/posting on this. I read just as much good as i did bad. Someone else here can probably tell you more. You'd probably be better off with a 1g head/intake combo unless your port the head. I was in the same boat you are. I have a 1g intake that i was gonna put on too. Too much reading caused me to just fork out the $650 for a Magnus. I'm also putting a 50trim on too. My car isn't running yet, probably 2 weeks out yet. But to answer question, of whether to get the intake mani ported, i probably wouldn't waste the time if you're not gonna do anything to the head. You will only be able to reach in so far with porting tools anyway. You will have to get it extrude honed if you want it ported thoroughly. That's pretty expensive.
Good Luck!

Well i got 2 opinions on this, OneFast99GSX said that i have to get 1g head and Kracka says all i have to do is put it in, i think - porting and honed but i don't need it - so i'm confused on this, i talked to shindley and he says it's just a swap with alot of welding 2g parts to the 1g intake manifold and stuff - so right now i need to know this: do i need a 1g head for the 1g intake manifold - i have two opinions and just wondering which one is the right one - i know i bought the intake manifold from Kracka - but i think it's a 7 bolt head - i know it's off a 1g so should i just use that? the head is in good condition- all i need is cams and im just going to get the hks 272's and be done with that.

YES, USE THE 1G HEAD WITH THE 1G INTAKE MANIFOLD AND 1G THROTTLE BODY. Bring the stuff out to Shindley and he'll get it taken care of for you.

You don't absolutely need the 1g head for the manifold swap. I hope someone else chimes in here. Scroll way down to the bottom of this link and read/compare. When your guy says welding, he must be referring to the map sensor mount that's located on the 2g intakes. I'm confused on your one sentence where you think it's 7 bolt head and off a 1g. I don't know if 7bolt heads came on 1g's. That question is more for a pro on here. If you find out you have a 1g head, yeah put the intake on but if it's the smaller port 2g head I guess find out from someone on here if it's actually worth it if you don't port the 2g to match the 1g mani. Nothing seems to be a direct swap to me anymore. 1 upgrade seems to lead to 3 to 5 other upgrades. For example: I think the 2g coil pack mount is different than a 1g, so that's another thing you have to do. By the way- I went with the 272 cams. I did about a months research on cams especially the Forced Perf. FP2 cams. Sent numerous emails to FP and never got one in return(a return customer too), so i said fuck them and went to the HKS 272's. Probably the best move i did anyway.

92.5-94's had a 7 bolt head. It is very similar to a 6 bolt head, but is supposed to offer a bit better cooling. You won't need much porting on the intake manifold. A bit by the throttle body is all that is really needed.

Thanks JET for clearing that up for me. I didn't want to give him bad info.

The 1G 7-bolt heads flow slightly more air and have larger oil and coolant passages.

Yes, that's what i thought too about the 1g. The 2g's have a better port angle and better in the long run 'when' professionally ported. At least that's what i gathered from a senior member on here.
