Apparently at the Suby VS DSM showdown in Ohio, this unfortunate DSM had a nitrous back fire which blew off the fuel rail...and so it began...

Simply horrible. It's almost like watching a family member burn alive.

Wow that is bad news. That fire crew sure was quick... Do most big tracks have a water truck or better extinguishers? You would think they would need one.

Definitely not good. I believe that was the first time the Showdown car had been taken out this year since being finished. I didn't scroll through that entire thread but I believe there is a video of the run/fire floating around somewhere.
Yeah, they made the call to the tracks water truck. The driver comes back and says "It is empty!" Doh!! 1/2 of their fire extringuishers didn't work either. It was their season opener and they obviously weren't prepared. There probably wasn't much they could have done though, the water truck might have put it out though.

I'm never putting nitrous on my car. That's two cars I've seen in the past two weeks with a nitrous back fire. I feel so bad for that guy. :(

It wasn't a nitrous backfire that caused the fire just to let everyone know.

That was before Showdown the owners of the car looked it over and said that it was something else. And clearly said it was not nitrous back fire that caused the initial fire.

Showdown sound like hacks to me. This is what happens when you take the hack shit too far. Home Depot will get you in the 14s pretty safely but not into the nines.
