I don't know them, but in their defense the kid that did most of the work on the car in only 19 years old. It was a fuel rail problem that caused the fire. I would post the link to the info but your going to have to find it yourself.
CRAIG
That sounds like a more realistic senario to me vs a nitrous backfire.

but a fuel rail alone won't do much. And they should have had a power off switch for the pump. When the conquest guys go to MPI, they all have atleast one good fire in the staging lanes. Nothing ever comes of it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Craig, but David Buschur specifically said the fire came from the rear of the car in his post linked to by Triple-M (Matt D.).

The video shows very clearly that it was a fuel fire from the front and made its way along the bottom of the car/ground in fractions of a second.
It really drives home the fact to not fuck around when it comes to your fuel setup and to carry a WORKING extinguisher in your car.
In Showdowns defense their car looked well put together and not a hack, though I know they were rushed to get the car done for this event. Sad and scary to see a nice DSM go up in flames like that. Good thing the kid got out in time.

It was a fuel rail failure. I actually pointed it out after watching the video, they kid just flew out of the car and forgot to turn the fuel pump off. He wouldn't have had nearly as much damage if he would have rememered to turn the fuel pump off. The track official also didn't hit the master switch in back like he should have.
