Seriously upgrade to XP, it handles everything so much better than the legacy versions of Windows. Its only $99 for the full version at General Nanosystems on University ave.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm guessing it's probably issues with this OS. I had problems with my computer about 2.5 years ago and re-installing windows was the answer to my problems which now seem to be back. I'll go through and save all relevant info I need and look into going with XP. Obviously right now I can't afford another computer, so that's out of the question. But I will probably need to get more memory before I change the OS since this old thing only has 92mb of RAM. Will the 400Mhz AMD run XP ok?

If anyone up there goes to their college bookstore or IT center you should be able to pick up XP Pro for about $50.

400Mhz will be fine. I run a 450Mhz at home but it has 392mb of RAM. You should be able to find RAM for that for $50 or less on ebay. I have a DVD drive on mine and watch movies with it and get no flickering.

I dont think I would upgrade to XP unless you have a good amount of memory ~512. 400mhz to me is a tad too low to upgrade, especially becuase XP needs that extra processing power, compared to 98SE.
You might be able to get by but if you put alot of programs or games on there its going to be a hog.
I run XP pro on a 266 PII with 256mb, yeah it isn't fast, but it never was to begin with!
