My problem with overrunning the stock FPR was that I couldn't get the car to idle below 2k RPM. You will get the worst overrun at idle. I agree that running a high base fuel pressure would eliminate it, but don't you need an AFPR to do that? I suppose that would allow you to use one of the cheaper B&M ones.
