When a car is stored while still being financed you need full comprehensive insurance, not liability. Full comp is generally under $10/month. If you have a decent record and a competent agent, your rates shouldn't change by all that much. I was paying $92/month for full coverage on my Talon, it would only go up to $111 for a brand new $32k sports car. Trust me kids, when it comes to money I know what I am talking about.

Hughes, are you sure about the full comp. and no liability? I was pretty sure you had to carry BOTH full comp. and liability on any car that carried a lien. But, I bow down to the all knowing, self-proclaimed "money master" on this scenario.

Yea Hughes has some magic agent those are not realistic number at all. Ask anyone on this board and we will say you pay the lowest for some weird reason. I pay full coverage and its about 160 per month, and thats after grades, and other cars included to make the rates go down.
No one here gets full coverage on any vehicle, besides you chris, on this site for less than 150, I can almost bet on it. And thats for older cars. Brand new 32K car will be quite a bit more.
You either are insured with your parents and have some kind of connection or something is wrong with you agent becuase its too good of a deal. Call any agent other than yours for a quote and you will be surprised.

I am not insured through my parents, I am on my own policy. I have no connection, I am just insured through my local State Farm agent, and have been since I was 16. I paid $92/month full coverage on the '94, $42/month liability on the '91, and $8/month comp for the '94 while being stored. You guys should keep in mind that I am older than some of you too, that deffinately helps out a lot.
Joe- I am sure all financing companies have different rules and regulations, but from the ones I've seen you only need comp while the car is being stored. That covers against theft, damage, vandalism, etc.

I got a drop when I turned 21 of about $20/month I think. I don't know, maybe it was less. Oh, its a lady, not a guy ;)

The married thing is true, but the 25 thing isnt always true. The last agent I talked to said that some companies have breaks at 19, 21, and 25, and that it varies between companies

Well I know the rates you are talking about are not BS. I receive very similar rates with Progressive. Granted I have a high deductible, but nonetheless.
