Does it really matter what they were driving?
No, but it was clearly a DSM so obviously we should be in an uproar about it.

The point here isn't the cars involved. It's the fact that doesn't anyone else find it wrong that you can be charged based on other peoples actions.

It's COMPLETE HORSE SHIT!!!! What the fuck is wrong with judges/lawyers/system thinking this is ok?

It's like someone breaks into your house hurts themselves and then sue's you.... You are responsible to pay for there pain/suffering, etc. What the hells up with that?

It's like a women says your the father of her baby you start paying child support then you find out later that she lied... But the coart system says you aren't entitled to a refund for the money spent, and on top of that you have to continue paying child support till the child is 18year old.....What the hells up with that?

I guess I just don't get it? If the coarts think it's ok for use to get fined/Jailed, etc for stuff like this, but then turn there heads or think it's ok for officers/government officials etc. it's freaking rediculious.

How can one be legal and the other not be? - it either is or it isn't period.

If I ever get hurt/killed doing something stupid in my car I don't want anyone else to get blamed, even if they were somehow provoking the stupid behavior. In the end it's my choice what I do I should be responsible for it if I am hurt.

so actually when an accident hapens, anyone that witnessed it is guilty and should share their insurance paperwork.

Or when you vitness a murder you are guilty?

that's exactly what happened in the case of these 2 kids being sent to jail.

Here's another comment:

The judge said prior to starting the process - that the kids were to negotiate with the attorney General for a Plea Bargain.

the one kid took the plea bargain and pled guilty. - recieving 6 month in jail, 3years probation

The 2nd kid said I will never take the blame for this girls actions. Stating I'm not responsible for what she did that night. - he recieved 78months in prison.

So basically with the judge saying it's in your best interest to pleade guilty in this case I guess we are now "China" where you are guilty until proven innocent.

That same type of thing can be found when it comes to tickets... how do you defend yourself against BS tickets from Police officers? The way they bend the rules now adays it's rediculious but because they wear the badge of coarse they have to be right.

I mean come on you know that all this comes down to politics and Money. The attorney general only did it to get his name in the paper. Even the mothers of the 2 girls that died said it was wrong and they shouldn't have been punished.

The girls were not driving a GS. it was a Black 97-99 style GSX. vs and and integra that looked like Gil's old Yellow one but blue with altezza's, and Not sure what the other car was.
hrm, i was watching a special on the whole court case. showed a shot of the back of the eclipse, was a GS and i laughed. oh well, just funny that they were "racing" in a GS, that's the only reason i mentioned it

I watched the special as well and the most important point of the whole thing was the first thing that the guy said that got 78 months... I take full responsibilty for MY actions and I do admit to driving wrecklessly and not following the law.... why is it that he does NOT get charged for what he admits but gets charged for murder.. also the van that they hit should be held responsible they were in the way of the race and witnessed the accident.. hense put them in jail too according to the logic set forth by this judge. I am sorry but I would have been with the 6yr term also because I do not feel anyway responsible for anyone choosing to race me..

why not make these kids do presentations (community svc) showing why not to race once a month for 6yrs or something like that.. or have them be incharge of fund raising to get a track where racing can be done safely..

my 2 cents and then some

I don't agree with those kids going to jail. Living with the death of a friend, when you know you were doing the same thing, is a horrible scenario. Especially at a young age. I HIGHLY doubt that if in MN, those kids would have faired the same, as I see MN a little more conservative than MO.

you couldnt of said it better

overall i think this is just a huge mess and of course wrong.
