View Full Version : Cannot Get Into Gear
The tranny was not taken apart, I put a new TOB on it though. I will check the slave agian for movement tomorrow. If I remember correctly, it almost hits the indent in the shifter boot.

It should move more than that.

OK, I compared the throw of the rod on my AWD talon and my FWD laser. When the clutch is pressed, the slave pushes the rod 1 inch on the laser. The talon only pushes it just under 3/4 of an inch. Do AWD and FWD have the same hydrolic components?
How do I fix this? I didn't touch anything on the hydrolic system until I installed the longer rod. Now everythings fucked up. The rod is out, the clutch doesn't feel as spongy, and the travel is still off. I bled the clutch a few times. There is no air in the lines. Please help ASAP, I want to go to RF tomorrow.
Ok, I adjusted the clutch pedal and I can get into gear now. The pedal is right on the floor though. I pretty much have to kick the firewall to get it engaged. I will try adjusting it furthur. I don't have much room to go before it is all the way out.

pedal assenbly might be dead then (worn out) Adjust it all the way out and if your using the 1/4 longer shaft you should me more than fine unless your assembly is worn out.
did you flush, bleed, and adjust the clutch??
I bled the clutch (fluid wasn't that dirty), adjusted the clutch, and threw in the longer rod again. The petal releases very early but seems fine. The tranny doesn't seem to like 4th gear though. Seems as if the synchro is on its way. It is not half as annoying as 2nd gear was. The car seems to be making a new rattling noise. Maybe something with the TOB. The noise seems to happen while and after a slow turn alot.
While tuning, I ran into a couple of more problems. After a hard pul through a couple of gears, it spits out a lot of blue smoke after I let off. It doesn't smoke at all while in the gear or shifting. Just when I get off it. The car has a new HG and valve seals so they shouldn't be a issue as I was only at ~20psi. While in between runs, my radiator fan decided to take a shit on itself and the car overheated. This happened on the freeway somehow... The coolant was boiling and was forced out the overflow bottle. The car was making a sound similar to what it was when I broke my crank pulley before... I will not make it to the track tomorrow.

So John I am having the same problem you were having with the pedal on the floor and there being about 2" of freeplay before there is any pressure. I can get the clutch to fully disengage but it is right on the floor worse than it used to be.
I just replaced the master and slave cylinders, put in the 1/4" longer rod in the slave and the pedal adjustment is all the way out (I mean all the way there are no more threads!).
I am stuck. I bled the slave and did the master too but nothing makes it better. I think either my pedal assembly is junk or something else is wrong (air in the system even after bleeds??)
It feels exactly like it did before I replaced both cylinders and --- I pushed it the clutch in to get out of gear on the way to the cookout and it felt sloppy and freeplay maybe gained 1 inch. So something happened as I pushed it in that day 3 weeks ago.
Im stuck?? Any suggestions?
