The car is my 92 talon AWD and the tranny came out of a 91 talon AWD. I had to unbolt part of the shifter linkage (where the cables connect to the tranny) to get the scattershield over it. I put it back on and it looks fine.

If you can get it into all the gears with out the car running, there is NO problem with disengagment. Its possable somthing got messed up putting it together.

Does that mean I have to take the tranny off again? :fworld: Are you 100% sure on this?

check with Carl he bought my 91 trany and suposedly linkage on 91 and 92 are different.. he re-drilled a hole on the linkage and he was fine after that. or he could of just used a 91 cables i think.. suposedly somethigns different with the cables or lenghth on top of the trany where the cables connect to.

if you look at the two arms that two cables conect (on the trany side), the lenghth of them is different.

Enes is on to something. Here is a pic of the two linkages. The 91 lincage is longer than the 92. I swapped that and it still doesn't work. I PMed carltalon to see what he had to drill. Thanks a lot Enes. Hopefull I can get it running without pulling it off again.

I hade to drill a new mounting hole in the other linkage to shorten the throw. check the stationary mount where the cables mount to the tranny it was different on mine. good luck

Ok, I put the car in first gear while it was not running. I pulled the shift cable off the top linkage. The cable extended a about a 1/4" past the linkage. I had James start the car while the tranny was in gear. While his foot was still on the clutch, the car started moving foreward. Does that mean that the clutch is not adjusted correctly? I have the clutch safety switch off, I am guessing that the clutch is hitting the floor before the petal engages the clutch.

Looks like you had the same problem as chengsta had. Mine are both parallel though. Seems as if the linkage is too long though. Maybe the car would not want to go into gear as the clutch was not engaging all the way. Does this sound like it could be my problem?

"The shifter linkage, shifter base, and shift levers on the tranny vary with years, you need to know how to make them work with each other if there from differnt years."

I guess no one reads what I say, also fwd and awd might be different. With it in 1st gear with the clutch pedal to the floor, and the car moves when you start it there is a dissengagment problem, ither master or slave cylenders or somthing got messed up on the install. The cluch fork should almost hit the end of the hole in the bellhousing when the cluch pedal is put to the floor. Also was the tranny taken apart/anything changed from when this tranny worked in another car?
