THE ONLY ISSUE WITH A TRACK CLOSER IS .....

no one wants in there back yard.... that why all the local tracks closed in the 70's......

coon rapids was farm fields till the 70's now look at it .....

untill we as a united car loving family come together and promote the crap out of it, no one will let us build a noisey, well light, pollution causing area near them.....

Other large cities have tracks in the metropolitan area. I was in Indianapolis a couple weeks ago. Indianapolis Raceway Park is right in a suburb of Indy. If you layed a map of Indy over the Twin Cities, it would be like driving to Minnetonka to get to the track. That would be awesome!! And that is what we really need.

In St. Louis, they have Gateway International Raceway. Its in East St. Louis which is kind of a run down old industrial area. But it is right in the middle of the city. Maybe they should plow down the whole warehouse district of Minnepolis and put the track there. ;) That way you won't affect any residents. Maybe you could leave Elite still standing. ;)

later,
Curt

Hell no Elite would be the Registration office. :woowoo:

But I agree we need to have the track closer then Medford.

What I don't understand why they don't use Savage as the location?

They have Elko speed way, They have the Valley Fair, they have the Canterbury,

You'd think a Race Track would be the perfect addition to all of that. And with Elko they already have the Noise/Zoning so what the hell?

It's mostly industrial in that area anyways.

I really hope we can get a track out of this ordeal...I would love a spot to run every weekend.
Otherwise I guess I'll be driving alot when the stealth is done.

Maybe you should bring that up to them. That's really not a bad idea at all. Also Phoenix is like that too, like where they have tracks real local. Firebird Raceway is on the outskirts of the Phoenix area, its by the city of Maricopa. But if you live in downtown Phoenix, it's no more than a 30 minute drive there. And if you don't wanna go there, just go to Phoenix Internation Raceway.

It will never get zoned. Figure there's a few years of work before seeing a track even if it gets re zoned. ALot of time for shit to go wrong. I didn't make it home till 10 so I didn't see it, and really don't care to. The avatar was awesome though! WooT!

Things get rezoned all the time, granted this is a big one, but it can be done.

Savage/Shakopee !!!! Perfect location.

to hell with it only being open on the weekends. I say 7 days a week.

Mon-Frid - Night races
Sat/Sund - All day.

That's how they do it in Rochester NY by my brothers place - cost's $10 for night racing, and $35 for Day time Events.

Then after they get the 1/4 track done. They need to convert Elko into a full out SCCA/AARRF Track like St. cloud or DCTC.

Then life would be awesome :3gears:

not to piss in anyones kool aid, but how is this suppose to get paid for? Whos gonna take the huge million of dollars risk? Honestly I dont think if there looking to get a track like the one in San Diego that itll ever fly or go through, because there isnt money in it. Think of the insurance and all that garbage. Id like to see a track just as much as the next guy, but I dont think anyones gonna risk it and shit, the state cant even afford a whole years supply of salt for the roads.. I was just curious if somone was lined up or what.
