Yeah, I would give it shot if I had an ECT folder.
What OS are you using? 2000 and XP will have the hosts file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ and 95/98/ME will be in c:\windows\

I'm using ME, and even after I put the IP in the LMHOST folder I still get the erorr when I use IE. I guess it really doesn't matter since it works if I use AOL to look browse.

Screw the LMHOSTS, you need the HOSTS file. If there isn't one, make one. The only line of info you need in it is:

69.59.153.204 www.dsmstyle.com

LMHOSTS file is for local machines on a network. All it does is resolves NETbios names to IPs. HOSTS resolves domain names to IPs.

LMHOSTS does work for resolving hosts on the web. I have done it many times. You have to use the "PRE" tag and make sure the file is renamed LMHOSTS with no file extension. Also, after the changes are made, the box needs to be rebooted.

Probably not required with XP but considering it is still a Microsuck product, you should reboot it at least 4 times a day just because. :slap:

That doesn't surprise me at all. The LMHOSTS file is read into RAM at each startup so changes should not be seen unless a reboot occurs. XP is much better about not requiring reboots for most network changes as the older winblows boxes did, but they still have a long way to go. Unix treats the host file a little bit differently. Individual applications will check it when they are started so it isn't dependant on the whole box being restarted. If I make a change to mine, all I need to do is close and reopen my browser or whatever network app I am in and it sees the changes. Yea I know, I will shut up now, most of you are all stuck in windows land and I won't be changing that soon. At least you don't drive honduhs.
