Boost On Logging Software

Does anyone know of a way to log boost on a 1G without an EMS? I have a TMO Datalogger and was curious if this could be done, like with 2G's with DSMLink and swapping out the MAP sensor. Maybe I should just do a DSMLink swap..!!

I dont think you can with TMO datalogger software. I dont know how atleast. Would be nice though. You have alot more to do before thinking about swapping to dsmlink. When I am logging, I watch the boost gauge the whole time to see if it spikes, falls off, or whatever. I have someone else watch the logger to see if I am knocking or not. If I start knocking around 10 counts, I shut it down. This is when I am tuning though. -John

Yes you can. You need at least a 3 bar map sensor, 4 bar if you are going over 29 psi. You use the EGR input of the TMO and use these settings as a guideline. I've been planning to get it set up with my pocketlogger but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Slope = 9
Units = psi
Precision = 1
Minimum = -15
Maximum = 30

Where do I get the sensor and what would be the diff in price between a 3 bar and 4 bar? And also how would I set it up on the car(sorry for the stupid questions, not all of us have the experience you do Steve ;) )

The map sensors are pretty common, my VPC comes with a 3 bar(2 bar positive pressure, 1 bar vacuum). GM makes a 4 bar sensor, not sure what the part number is, best off to do a google search. They should be under $100 new, much cheaper used.

I know the same thing can be done with a pocketlogger program provided you can write your own parameters for a separate input. I had the info for the MMCD software, but haven't seen it yet for the pocketlogger software.

*edit* I'm sure you won't be going over 29 psi, so here's the GM part number for the 3-bar sensor. It was used on the 89 Turbo TA. part #12223861, retails for $51 on www.gmpartsdirect.com

Wouldn't you want the offset to be -14.5?

Another stupid question now, where does the MAP Sensor go? And how does it plug in. Also where do I enter that stuff into the TMO logger?
