View Full Version : Death at proving grounds....
"Hello, all - this is Star and Pamela and Stacy. The family met with the neurology doc this morning and it was made clear that Brian will never wake up. The family has made the decision to move forward with removing medications. The breathing tube will be removed today as well. He will be given "comfort cares" (medicine to help keep us comfortable through the dying process.) There is great comfort in knowing that Brian has suffered no pain from this. He has never felt a thing. There is also immense comfort in the loving support from Brian's friends and families.
At this point if anyone would like to see him you need to come now. The family is open to anyone who would like to be here to visit him one last time and also if anyone wants to be here until the very end. Please be aware if you have never seen the dying process it is difficult. There is absolutely no pressure at all to be here but the family is certainly open to it as well. There is not a way to know how quickly this will happen. Brian is breathing on his own so it could take up to a few days or it could be as quick as a few hours. There is no way to know.
Please pray that this process goes quickly. Now that we know exactly where it is headed the best outcome for everyone would be a quick and peaceful transition. Thank you for all of your prayers. Much love and hugs. "

That is terrible to hear. The fact he has felt no pain is good though.
I can only imagine both MAP and BIR will soon be facing a lawsuit over this so expect event and track policies to soon be changing.

A guy was standing up in the back of his friends truck and his friend driving was drunk and forgot he was back there and floored his truck the kid fell out of the back and cracked his head open. He was rushed to st. cloud hosptial. I guess he ate just before that happend and he threw up his food and was chocking on it. MAP posted a thing on there facebook about it check it out. I guess he was on the edge of dying but doing better now.
Let's tell the stories CORRECTLY if we're going to tell them.
I'm not going to share who the driver was.
Regardless, Brian was in the back of his truck, sitting on the open tailgate. The truck went over a sizeable bump at about 10mph, Brian bounced up, came back down, lost his balance, and fell. It was a stupid accident that could have happened to anyone, whether drunk or not. None of Brian's friends or family blame the driver for what happened.
It's a horrible situation all around for everyone.

I wonder if any changes will be made?
Having 3 security cars to patrol over 100 acres dosent seem like enough.

That's horrible :( I am fairly sure growing up I've done that same thing a dozen or more times off the bed of my dad or grandpas trucks as a kid.

I wonder if the driver is facing any charges?
They were dropped temporarily due to test paperwork not being complete, but it sounds like he will. Hopefully the state takes it easy on him.

Guy driving the truck is a stand-up guy, it was not the best situation but not unlike literally hundreds of other cars/trucks driving around there with people being stupid. It is extremely unfortunate how it went down and a testament to how fleeting life is.
I didn't know Brian but lots of people around me knew him and say he is a real nice guy. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
FWIW Yes Proving Grounds has grown but it doesn't have to be this way, not going because bad stuff happens...I had a blast all weekend and as someone actually participating in events I never honestly had much time to do much stupid. I get that people want to go and spectate and get crazy but people need to be reasonable and take it easy. We don't need situations like this overshadowing the great event that BIR, MAP, CWSCC, and others are putting on.
Also, the bump they hit (I think) needs to be addressed by BIR. It was right by my campsite and I went over it in my evo once...about knocked my teeth out. It's in sort-of a round-about so you're more likely to not drive over it unless there's traffic.
