This year I plan on attending several events and I hope I can get some people together to join me!
I'd like to do a driving school at BIR to get my feet wet.
I'm hoping Ron @ RS puts on his 'Evo Fridays' at DCTC again.
I'll do autocross, but maybe just a practice day @ DCTC.
Proving Grounds? Game on. TTS this year. Finally!
I want to play it safe, I'm already planning out some safety equipment and car prep to make sure I get the most out of this.
So, as events come up on other forums, post them up! Let's get this season started with a bang---I wanna go fast!

I'm in for all of this. Really want to make a more proper transition to road course stuff this year, lol.

I'd love to do more practice days at DCTC. Way more convenient and cheaper for both the chumpcar and my DD talon. Not quite as good a test as BIR but better than a normal parking lot cone dodging event.
Also was a lot of fun watching my teammate chase down and pass a cayman in a 'crapcan' ;)

Ron's DCTC days are also a go. When they start is tentative (April's days are still short) I'm sure May at latest

Please be aware the DCTC Friday night events are lapping events, but no passing is allowed.
These are great for the beginners who are trying to learn skills for auto-x and road course hpde's. The run groups are organized by skill level (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) and instructors are available to help at any time.
These event are also perfect for drivers looking to shake down race cars and setup cars for other events (hint chumpcar, lemons, auto-x, and WRL).
More information will be posted the closer we get to racing season, but is likely always going to be on Friday nights.

Why no passing in advanced? Liability/insurance limitations? Getting stuck behind people is no fun.

Liability/insurance and DCTC's own recommendations. The gentleman that rents out the track does check up on us to make sure we are driving within the limits also because of the risks associated with some areas on the track having none to very little runoff zones.

I wouldn't try to pass on that track, I'll tell you that right now. There's no margin for error between track width and runoff.
Honestly, in the advanced group, I've never had issues with catching people or being caught, either in my old VIII, Bobby's X, or my father's STi. I did get a talking to at the first event for catching people and sticking too close, but that was before run groups were set up. It ends up being pretty well balanced out there from what I've found.
