Great weekend with the black ValentNine! Shawn was hosing a 'newb mod day' for evomn guys and I joined in in all my newbness and we went to town on this thing. Thanks to TKR Mark for the help!!!

Yanked apart the suspension and cleaned out all the dirt....these struts look pretty beat up but they are sound for now, functional and don't knock or make noise. Fun fact: they are out of my old evo8! (http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-general/487305-better-sand-road-than-sand-my-vag.html) :)

Out with the broken/mismatched spring setup and in with Swift SpecR's! No after pics yet, I'll post some once I wash it.

'Shawn, do you have a press at your shop? If so I'll just get the press-in front motor mount'
'yup! I got one'
I arrived, and Shawn had bought a press, just for me for this...'been meaning to get one and this was the perfect excuse!'
Shawn as payback, I have several stock front motor mounts that could be used for bushing swaps in the future if you want! Thanks again!

I cannot do a front motor mount on my car without peril though, wtf. Put it back in with one bolt. Gah, not sure what to do.

Bolted up the brackets for the front brake ducts and bled the brakes with ATE type 200 amber (same as ATE Blue but...just amber :) ). This car has Stoptech pads, great for the street, we'll see how they do once I hit the track.

Aaaaaaaaand fun surprise of the day? Looks like....in the...yes....5 days I've been driving this car...someone hit it in a parking lot. Passenger rear door and side skirt have damage from some type of low bumper....unreal.

Finally, bolted up the wideband o2 sensor and then today finished wiring up the gauge. I did a temp mount with some safety wire on the defrost vent and actually kinda like it...nice and easy. I ran a wire to the stock rear o2 so I can log it via ecuflash.

LOVE the new setup. Drove through the rain on the way home but been taking more and more fast corners with the new springs in place and I'm SO excited to start tearing it up with this thing. Not trying to make too many plans on 'what to do next' as far as suspension goes because I am just simply out of budget on this project for a while...just pumped to just enjoy it and tear it up!

320 miles and second oil change are behind me after 1 week, on track to be broken-in in time for the DCTC event on May 2.

So, false alarm...sorta! I never noticed that dent in the door before but it's been there a long time. All good, just add it to the list...nothing I can do about it now. Keep an eye out for a door in a junk yard I guess!

So....I fixed the shifter...again! I decided to raise it up to the higher position. 24 hours later I'm really happy! The throw is definitely way longer but the gear changes require so much less effort between every shift...love it.

Putting plenty of miles on the car, almost ready for boost!

Update! Been a whirlwind couple days...Monday morning I picked up a stock turbo from USPS...a guy shipped it to me via Media Mail...anyways it was minty fresh, 30k miles on it and it looked nice and shiny clean, no shaft play.

On my way to a customer site, the car made a 'ker-plink!...kerplonk!' as something obviously fell out of the engine bay and out the back of teh car. Afterwards the car sounded like it had a big exhaust leak and wouldn't build any boost, like none. Car ran great otherwise...I feared the worst....

I tear into it later that night and before I know it the TME turbo is out of the car...o2 housing was fine but missing a single bolt (didn't think it would cause the noise I was hearing) and still no boost at all. I thought I'd discover the wastegate flew off or something but it was perfect, held in place with tension from the WGA arm...I honestly have no idea what happened.

Onward! I decided...assembled the stock IX turbo and started to put it on. It's been a while since I've done one of these and before I knew it between the late late start (probably 8pm?) and the head scratching it was 1am and I had to be up for work at 6am....I just about fell asleep while putting the LICP on...called it.

Tonight, I buttoned it up, took it around the block and while the exhaust leak noise was gone, still no boost! WTF! So I'm fearing the worst until I notice I forgot to hook the WGA up on the new turbo. Oops! A few cut fingers later it's on and the car boosts great! No major leaks....went for a long drive, turn up the boost a bit and we are good....a bit bewildered, but good.

I'm attending a lapping event at DCTC Friday night and there's a small pile of thigns I wanted to get done beforehand but I just don't have the time or want to add another possible monkeywrench into the situation so this is it for a few days:

http://www.scheides.com/albums/evo9/IMG_6927.sized.jpg

I left Ron's O2 housing on it b/c of issues with the stocker and bolts I had available so I'll rock it like this for now...all buttoned up (finally):

Car needs an alignment pretty bad and the brakes are decent for the street but aren't going to cut it long-term on the track...these are my next priorities I think....and selling off extra parts to stop bleeding money on this thing :)
