FWIW I've been running the hose that came with my MAP kit for about a year and a half on e85, no problems. When I first installed it I thought I had kinked it (see my project thread) so I took it back out and rearranged it, no issues thus far, even after upgrading to a w400!

That plastic straw hose stuff is junk IMO, I've seen a few instances of it breaking, get the rubber submersible fuel injection hose that is ethanol-safe. It should be around $15/foot...

The problem is that a straight hose gets kinked, I tried this. You have to get the 'S' shaped hose that comes in the cobb pump kit (or one like it) if you wanna run this type of hose.

Yea I'd ditch the clear stuff, I think MAP even says not e85 safe on their website.

I ran a DIY 225 install kit that I made for 6 months and like 10,000 miles and this is what it looked like, super gummy and discolored but still worked fine.

Nope, I've been running straight hose for a year and a half, it's fine if routed properly. Cobb no longer uses the S hose.

I had read about the routing issue before I did mine and made sure it was routed down and back out with no kinks, etc. It was not a kink issue for sure. It is flared out where it broke as if the line was getting weaker or something was caught in it backing it up and it exploded.

I did talk to MAP, and they said the line is definitely used by a lot of guys for e85 and working fine as e85 is the main reason most people upgrade the pump / buy that kit anyway. But... read on.

I replaced the clear line with Gates 27093 ($28 for a foot of it at NAPA, they had it in stock at the distribution center one in St Louis Park). It is tricky to route such that it won't be kinked once the bucket's bolted into the tank, but definitely doable. After that, car started right up and ran good... for about 19 miles of a 21 mile drive home.

It died again, clearly losing fuel. Still had tools/etc in the car of course, didn't even put the back seat back in, so I pull the bucket out again, turns out the DW300 died. Luckily I still had a DW65c at home in the stock hanger assembly, so my wife brought it to me and I swapped it in.

Sounds like the 300s have a bit of a reputation for dying, then sometimes working 20 minutes later, then dying again. Probably a combination of the stop and go traffic, hardwire, and inadequate return line system... so that's the end of the 300.

I would be more annoyed, but I was leaning toward a w400 and having to do an afpr or mod the return line at a minimum anyway. It sounds like MAP is working out some bugs on a new setup that I might be interested in though so I'll try to hold off doing too much for now.

Yep. Thanks again. That was from the previous owner disconnecting the clutch switch and putting a jumper on the wire to it.. jumper worked its way out. Found the jumper on the floor later and wanted to kick myself. Plug clutch switch in, starts.

No we're good :) I don't mind hiccups like this... bit of a pain in the ass, but oh well, learn something new maybe. It's working w/ the 65c for now, and I'm just going to be taking it easy for another 2 weeks anyway until we're ready to do the turbo/motor. Really curious to see if there's something else that caused the pump to go though.
