The other day I noticed that 1st gear was a bit more difficult to go in and reverse is grinding every once and a while. My clutch engagement has always been really low on the pedal and seems to have moved just far down enough where when the pedal is to the floor the clutch is either fully disengaged or partially disengaged - it's inconsistent. If I put the car in first and two step (4,500RPM) the car lurches forward a little (it seems to "surge" a bit but only moves forward an inch or so).

Fluid in the reservoir is full and I followed proper instructions to set the clutch pedal (found the point where the bleeder was blocked off and backed it off a little bit). I don't seem to be loosing any fluid from the slave but there's a hint of fluid on the outside of it (hard to tell if it's brake fluid or oil) but not a lot by any means. The fluid isn't super clean though.

Any thoughts on what might be going on? Only thing I haven't really tried is bleeding the clutch.

Car is a 2G GSX, Shep Stage 4, PTT twin disk, Isuzu slave cylinder, NEO RHD fluid previously, I just changed to Amsoil 75-90 but it feels the same.

You might be able to adjust the pedal like on a 1g. Google it or go on youtube and type in clutch pedal adjustment. You should be able to find something.

Sounds like a dragging clutch, try adjusting the pedal like Paul said

I did. I adjusted it to the point that the cylinder was blocking the path to the reservoir and then backed it off slightly

Basically what the guys explains in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYJxQyjIhUw

Bleed it, air in the system can cause engagement/disengagement issue, because its not releasing fully.

Have someone step on the clutch and watch to see if the slave rod and fork moves enough

Try bleeding the system. you might have a weak slave or master cylinder.

Mine did the same thing at the track never figured out why. My 2 step was at 6200rpm and as soon as I hit 6k it would start to move forward. I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it but I know I replaced a few things and it went away. But I solved the issue at the track by holding the e-brake.

I replaced the line master to slave braided line and also got an extended rod.

Try bleeding it first though. That might be the issue

Alright, going to try bleeding it today. The only reason I didn't do it yesterday is because I didn't have a buddy :)

I'll report back...

I'll give you guys a few guesses as to what it was. And no, it has nothing to do with the slave/master. I will actually PayPal someone $25 if they can guess. If you're my Facebook friend you're automatically disqualified.

tranny was pushing away from the block? Or other words the bolts were loose on the block. Either way glad you fixed it and it probably was a free easy fix since nothing is open today and by the sounds of it you got it fixed.
