Troopers have a hard-on for window tint. Gotten pulled over twice in the last year just for the tint. $130 fine each time.

Please read and understand everything before assuming.
That's a two-way street man ;) Just focus 110% on not attracting attention to yourself and being extremely polite and respectful to law enforcement. Whenever I get pulled over, 90% of the time it is because I am doing something stupid. The other 50% of the time its because I have illegal tint. Read between the lines there and you'll see that it's generally my fault.
That being said, I'd love to see 85mph speed limits on freeways and more fair/realistic tint and exhaust laws but ultimately it's not gonna happen anytime soon. Make due with what you have, be respectful or earn enough money to pay for the tickets/fines you're going to incur along the way.

For the person that started this thread, I'd pull you over everytime I seen your car! Just like you can't have things hang from your mirror. (obstruction of view) You can't have a sticker right in front of you, on the winshield. Banner you'd be able to get away with, but the stickers just draw cops in for a closer look. Im sure your friend who has the toyota truck with the banner, doesn't have a 4x4 sticker in the center of his winsheild either. Your not giving the whole story. Also put it back to stock, all one color and take off the stickers and see how that goes Im sure things will change.

You're car is illegal if it has darker than 50% tint, no cat, excessively loud exhaust, etc...
I used to get pulled over all the time when I was young for the same kind of stupid shit but never complained about it, if things are illegal that's the chance you take.
I've been able to talk my way out of some tickets and I'm always very respectable but sometimes you can't just talk you way out of things. Stop breaking the law or have illegal things installed and then if you get pulled over then you can maybe complain, but you still probably did something wrong.
Well my tint wasn't dark at all; I could see out of it fine, so it was not bothering anybody. My exhaust is not loud by any means. There is no cat on it, but who here REALLY has a cat on their car?
My problem is, nothing that is really worthy of pulling me over, has been getting me pulled over. How are the cops going to know I do not have a cat? lol Their aren't. So that doesn't even work into being a factor.
On the contrary; to be pulled over for something I did not do to my car is retarded. The tint was on the car when I got it. I told the cop that. He didn't seem to understand. I do not get what is so hard about understanding I was not the one who installed the tint.
Then we get back to the fact it was not even dark.

^ I mean really, look at it for yourself.
I won't get into how I "still probably did something wrong." because as I have explained, I've done nothing illegal.

Well thank God I have never recieved a ticket. I would not be too happy.
Oh! You also have to remember the stupid people that are jealous of the kind of car you own. Then call you in for "almost running them over, and running stop signs". Another one of the biggest crocks of shit I have ever had to deal with.

Yeah um....I'm sorry OP, but CornFed has a very good point. I have a "Mitsubishi" decale above my rear view mirror, but it isn't solid. I also did not place it there (original owner).
The other decals I have are out of the way and not noticable from inside the car.
OP: You may want to rid your car of the decals and get some lighter tint.

You really need to lose this sentiment, it's a dsm not a ferrari. Don't get me wrong, I freaking love dsms, I've owned 4 of them now...but the point is it's a fast econobox, not a porsche. That's what makes them fun, people underestimate them.
So yea, speaking of being respectful, be respectful to other motorists too...otherwise they'll call you in for any excuse they get.

No, not in the least. I have had a kid almost side swipe me twice, and tbone me in the same night. So what did I do? Followed his ass and called him in. Got him a exhibition driving ticket. I mean really, almost running into my newly painted car? I do not think so.
What does this same person do some night my friend and I are out driving? He called us in because he sees it fit to "get even". I'm pretty sure it is jealousy.. Considering he is driving his baller Mazda 626. Meanwhile my friend and I are in an SRT4 and an Eclipse.
Please, let us not start talking about things that have not yet been explained. (The reason I have been called in, which just now has been explained). Thank you.

I can see out of my tint that's 20% too. Does that make it legal? I think not.
I actually still have a cat on my car. The point was if there is anything not legal on your car, you can techincally get a ticket for it. Thats the price we pay and the risk we run. If you can't afford a ticket, get out of the game now.
My problem is, nothing that is really worthy of pulling me over, has been getting me pulled over. How are the cops going to know I do not have a cat? lol Their aren't. So that doesn't even work into being a factor.

Clearly something was worthy of pulling you over if you got pulled over. Either you drove like an asshat or had something about your car that attracted the police.
Cry me a river, you know if tint is on the border line of being too dark or not. When I got my evo I knew the tint was too dark and I got pulled over for it along with no front plate. I knew both were ilegal but I liked it and sometimes you just have to pay the ticket when you get one or take off the tint and put on a front plate.
Go away, build your shitty dsm, and stop bitching:moon:
