Holy shit what a weekend! I have like 15G of HD video, a ton of pics, and countless stories!

Thanks MAP for an amazing time.

It's a crazy story, but I beat out tachyon in the final for Stock Appearing. I'm still in shock!

Figure I'll repost this for Mark:

Only made one pass had a BOV weld/material fatigue issue. More than likely due to my welding, did this like 6+ years ago.

Lost some boost to a leak, assuming this started to crack in 3rd gear. Then at the 8K mark in 4th gear it let go. It was still was a great run. The launch was a 1.61 60 foot. I was very happy!

Wewt.

Long story short, the car has high 11s in it and I wasn't getting out of first and second early enough, but after that pass I called it quits. I habitually put the car in neutral and pump the clutch a few times after each pass as I'm braking, and that time the pedal was super squishy and only returned about halfway for two pumps, a third one and it was fine. No slipping on the pass obviously, and none on the quick pull in the return lane, but it was disconcerting enough to end my day. I've been suspicious of my master cylinder for quite some time now, and this close to solidifies it. The engagement point didn't change all weekend, and I doubt heat would have caused an issue that short-lived or intermittent.

I'm waiting on Scheides' GoPro vids!

Moar to follow. I just have to upload some more videos. Wish I could have been there yesterday, but it was my 1st wedding anniversary. Sounds like there was much more action Saturday. Maybe next year :)

Announcer was again HORRIBLE. Just murdered everyone's names (As you can hear in the video LOL), and someone needs to tell him how to pronounce Mit-su-bishi and not Mitchy-bitchy.

Thanks man! Racing is fun when its between friends!

So I won the Stock Appearing class for drag. I don't know how I did it. Saturday morning was insanely fun out on the AutoX course--I suck at wheel turning but I had a fantastic time doing it--this course was one of the fastest and most satisfying I've been on! I will be reviewing logs but if you look at some of the videos (I'll post later) 70+mph is achieved at the finish line. I'm having a weird issue with par throttle in the 2500-3000rpm range where my car wants to fall on its face. I wanted to have it resolved by this weekend but ran out of time and said fook it--add to that the fact that I'm a newb and I will yield very average times, blah!

But it was fun as hell bringing sleepydsm, Mike S, Paul, and others over for their first time through an autoX--you guys don't know how spoiled you were though by not having to work corners! These guys showed up and beat my ass, I was pissed!

On to drag racing. My goals were 11.99@120mph, should be obtainable. Saturday afternoon was just abysmal for me. I tried all kinds of different combos of tire pressure and 2-step rpm to no avail. My car was performing very inconsistent off the line--I'd either bog REALLY bad or I would swear the clutch was slipping. At first I thought I had left my foot on the clutch pedal and caused this, but after a few passes with a best of 12.7@120mph I ran a pass and the clutch slipped in EVERY gear under power. I got back to the campsite and nearly lit fire to the thing, I simply could not believe it! The PP has like maybe 7k miles on it and I replaced the disk 5k miles ago when the motor was out; only a few launches from autoX earlier in the day on it.

After pouting for a while and watching others rip some great times, I was walking back to the campsite with Spaz and he goes, 'clutch fork stopper!' and immediately I picked up my pace. Got back and sure enough, the fork was literally smashed against the fork stopper--GAH! Removed fork stopper and went for a short rip, no slippage!

Sunday came. I was dirty as shit and sooooo fukin hungover. 6500rpm 2-step and 28psi in the tires. Bogged off the line but clutch held great. 12.99@123mph. Woot for more mph, bleeeh for a weak time. I come back around, try again, semi bog again, 12.3@122mph. Up the 2-step to 7000 (where I had it last fall at RF) and go back out, car spins and I get excited for real wheelspin launch and grab 2nd way early, bog it a bit, then rip the rest of the track. 12.3@122 like before but I am finding my groove!

Back in the campground I'm with Shawn(DoughtCom) and we make plans to dominate by dividing...lower tire pressure to 23 all around in hopes of a bit more grip but not too much. Of course Shawn and I get paired up....we bet $1 and I end up beating him, but at the end of the track in 4th gear my car is sputtering as it hits 8000rpm like its out of gas...but its an X, it has 1/4 tank still and that's apparently too low! I get my timeslip: 11.8@117mph. WOOT! Got my groove on now! Find Mara (Shane@DB Performance's wife) and ask about a bunch of e85 they had....throw in 5 gallons to be sure.

Get back inline and they pit me against Bryce. He is intense but I show him how intense I can be with another $1 bet, cause I'm racin' for serious! :D We line up, it is the freaking closest race ever--he pulls a bit in 2nd, I reel him in in 3rd, then dead even through the finish and it is freaking CLOSE I mean we are literally mirror-to-mirror at the finish! We get the slip and I think I beat him by like .05 seconds. Great race! 11.6@121mph--I flip out! This is huge and about as perfect as I'll get for today I think! I am beaming!

I pull around and there's tachyon in his 1G and this guy in a 335i left....and me. They tell me I get a bye and I'm thinking 'for what?' and realize that I'm somehow in the final. Holy eff! So Paul beats his ass and then he and I line up. It was closer than I thought but I edged him out with a 12.1@120mph.

So yea, beaterX takes the Stock Appearing class with me at the wheel, I am proud!

Thanks again to MAP for putting this event on and the sweet shortblock in my car (amongst other parts!), it has performed flawlessly.

Thanks to Shane@DB Performance for the awesome tune, endless great advice, and for telling me he was sure I would have been on nobody's list of people expected to win that class! :D Seriously though THANK YOU for helping me win this.

Mark Leasure, Jim Hayek(TalonEvo), Spaz, thx for helping me with my shitty driving this weekend. Spaz beat me first thing sunday morning (I have great video of his car going all the way down the track right in front of me) so I had to show him up :D

Thanks to everyone else who has ever helped me on this thing, I had an absolute blast this weekend and even with issues the car performed like a champ.

All above commentary subject to being revoked or changed, I haven't reviewed logs yet from today, if I find anything wrong I will totally go back and ricer-math my times/mph's :D

I'll post the vids later, GoPro footage is amazing.

I can't believe I only hit 1 cone in all those runs! My times are lackluster though, need to get cloooooser!

I had an awesome time. Road course filled up completely plus some, auto-x had a decent turnout, and we flew right through the runs getting 15 runs on saturday and 10 runs today.

thanks to those that came out and tried an event where you had to turn the steering wheel!
