Chris Hill was making somewhere around 750FWHP in T2 when he set that record if memory serves correct.
If I were to do a FWD drag car I would focus on getting it light and dialed in. I would ditch the twins and go single, much like I did with the stealth at the end. I had a custom spec'd 76GTS that should have made 900 or so to all 4 wheels w/o spray if the motor could hold together.
The 6g72 is pretty damn reliable to I would say 650-700hp. Once you cross that bridge, it gets expensive quick.
Put your FWD together with the 16g kit if you have all the bugs worked out and get a baseline. Power is just power, getting it to the ground and getting passes under your belt is where you will beat the ET record.

There is another local guy doing 3.5 with twin 5857s.
600whp 3S is sick.

I thought he was at 850FWHP when he made that pass. I can't say for sure though.
My engine "should" be able to handle the power. I have cp pistons, pauter rods, forged crank. I will be getting h13 tool steel wrist pins, then it will all be put in my 4 bolt block. Theoretically the parts are there but we will see if its capable or not.
The 16g kit is long gone, I sold most of my stuff to be able to come to school out of state. I am kind of starting from scratch again. Slit second is having a sale on their tdo5 manifold kit, so that is the reason I even got this idea in my head.
I want a single kit but I can't seem to find any I like. The ips kit is like 8 grand, I like the placement of that kit since its not above the tranny so it wont melt stuff. I just don't personally think that kit is worth the money even though it is super high quality.
Like you said its all about driving ability also so that is definitely something I need to work on. I am taking some chassis design classes right now so hopefully I can use some of that knowledge and figure some ways to get traction. I already have a few ideas in mind for that part. I just want to do one build and be done with it. For now at least. I was kind of thinking getting some 10:1 mahle pistons and running a high compression turbo motor on e98 but that may come later.

How do you plan on keeping the head down? My problem wasn't the short block (minus shattering oil pumps and cracking cranks reving to 9000rpm), it was keeping the heads down. IPS has/had some A1 research head studs and I know a few years ago there was extensive talk about pinning the heads, not sure where that discussion went as I pretty much just tune bolt-on 3s's now.

I don't know if you were around but ray pampena came out with a head lift fix. I don't the exact works of it but I know he welds something on the head surface and pretty much completely solves the problem. With that fix I will be running stock head bolts and stock head gaskets. Potentially oringing the block. This is the setup all the big guns are running now with zero head lift problems. Also someone came out with billet oil pump gears to solve the oil gears shattering problem.

I have a set of 13ts at home that need rebuilt, I think I am just gonna build the motor how I want it and slap the 13ts on till I get the chassis dialed in and get some passes under my belt then I will go all out with the turbo kit when the time comes. I might be able to squeeze 500whp out of the 13ts since I am fwd. That will leave me with a good baseline and a better knowledge of the power I am gonna need to get the record.
