I've already decided on an elise, for my next car. Just fucking sexy. Some obnoxious color like orange or yellow
Damn, sounds like we should start a Lotus thread. I signed up for the Lotus forum today. I think a 2007 Exige S would be ideal. They are going for around 40k. Obviously not cheap but quite a bit less than I have in the X at this point. Quite a few interesting aftermarket options as well.

This looks like 1975 all over again when everybody jumped on the shitbox wagon and produced such memorable cars as the Dodge Omni, Chevy Vega and who could forget the Mustang II? Eventually they all came back to their senses because the reality is, nobody really wants to drive a fucking Prius. I'm sure this will be the nail in the coffin for Mitsu, who other than the Evo has absolutely sucked at cars and trucks for a decade.

Dodge Omni
My first car could have been an Omni GLH back in `89. Dad decided that a 4cyl 1980 Mustang was more practical. $220/mo for insurance on a 4cyl automatic in baby blue. That was back in the day when that was a week's gross pay.
yeah, I got my automotive genius from Dad.

Doesn't a brand new Evo X cost about the same?

Mitsu dealers don't get sticker price for them. A GSR w/SSS (probably the most common setup) is 32-34k. Back when they were closing out the 2008 models (which they produced too many of) I heard of a few guys getting them for 28k. Mitsu usually offers 0% financing so a new Evo really isn't all that expensive in the big scheme of things.
The Lotus sell for nearly half of their sticker price with just a few thousand miles on them. If you're looking for a road course vehicle then it's compelling because they are track-ready out of the box. Throw a set of pads on the Exige and your 'modding' is done. You end up spending $15k in mods to get the Evo anywhere near that level and we all know that mods are worth $0 when it comes time to sell the car.

Will the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X be the last Evo ever built? Rumors to that extent were flying fast and furious across the Internet yesterday. Mitsubishi has decided to address these claims by way of a post on its Facebook page:
Further to some comments published in the press recently, production of the current Lancer Evolution continues as planned. As for its successor, regulations and market feedback will dictate its engineering package & architecture. Stay tuned.
So relax Evo fans, this answer should make you feel... well, actually, stay worried – the above statement really doesn't answer anything about the model's future.

Just need to budget for a Honda K-series swap into the Lotus, since the Toyota motor they come with is a piece of shit. :)

While certainly not a K, I would be very hesitant to call Yamaha's 2zz a piece of shit.
