I thought our stock springs were good till about 8500 rpms. What are you planning on running it to? Isn't shep still on the stock springs?
i don't think he is... and as far as i know the 2g stock springs are good till about 7500 - 8000

okay, my bad. I haven't heard anything bad about Ferrea, but I know that comp cams springs makes a bad batch every now and then. A F-Body guy I know wrecked his built LS1 because of that.

Ferrea are good stuff. If you want high quality or need to rev it to 9500+ then get the Ferreas. If you want slightly better than stock and plan on keeping it under 8500 then get the Crowers.
Eveywhere i found it is that Farrea i can get for $255 shiped and cheapest i found for Crowers was like $260 ...
should i just go with Farrea? or is that going to cause un needed stress on the head and the components?

Maybe you're looking at the just the pricing of the springs for the $255, and when looking at the pricing of the Crowers, you get springs and retainers for that much. ($260).
I think Cher is right. The Crowers are also much lighter and don't put as much force on the cam (less holding force, but easier on components). I went with Crower, but I won't be going over 8k (with 1mm oversized valves).
this is just in preparation for the new engine this upcoming winter.... ..
thanx for the information.. will most likely be going with crowers then.

Crower springs can be had for around $115. Their retainers are like $150. You can also get a kit with both. I ran their spring/retainer combo to 8500 almost daily when my old 2G.
