Removing Valve Cover Baffles?

Anyone here run a valve cover without baffles?

Any issues?

Anyone here have any good info on removing, or KEEPING the baffles?

I am welding -10 fittings vent fittings on mine.

Remove for welding and cutting but then put back after you clean up all material. Drill and tap where you have to drill out whatever it is that is holding the baffle to the cover and use small screws with loctite to put back in.

I agree with removing the baffles for when you weld in your fittings. It'll help to make sure that you get any metal filings from drilling the holes removed that could be stuck on top of the baffles. But then I say put them back in. I'd think without the baffles, you'd end up with a lot more oil in your catch can without the baffles there to deflect some of the oil back down.

He's worried about the bolts holding the baffles in coming loose and going into his head. I say keep some of the baffles like you were planning to.

Well if you drill/tap and then Loctite the bolts back in properly you shouldn't ever have to worry about them coming out. That's how mine is done and it works great.

Do what I did. Weld the fittings to your valve cover, in the factory places. Then, find a drill bit to the size of the hole in the fitting, and after it's welded, drill that hole out. Clean the valve cover out really well, and then powdercoat/install. This is how mine was done, and NO issues. Baffles never where touched.

I don't run any baffles on my -10an setup. I do fill up the catch can kind of quick though when beating on it pretty hard around town, otherwise its not THAT bad. I was the same way of not wanting anything to fall in my head if I put the baffles back in, plus I my eclipse isn't a true daily driver and emptying a catch can is pretty darn easy.
