Every time I walked over to the drift area nothing interesting would happen...then I'd walk away. Bastards.

Go Pro HD - http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=30

Warning- This product doesn't work as well as the videos show on their web page. Do a search before buying one. On mine, the video is ok, but the sound doesn't work at all and never worked. I bought mine brand new.

They are cheap, but don't expect the quality shown on their page.

Weird. I've known of plenty of people who have used them in everything from autocross to mountain biking and the picture and sound was always good.

I have one. I hope to try it out on the short course at the end of the month. I'll undoubtedly post some video from it when the time comes. The mic is on the back of the thing so I wasn't expecting a whole lot.

I was thinking more along the lines of a SmartyCam:

I could loan it to any Evo owner to plug in and shoot some video (OBD-II and power is all it needs).

There are some other interesting data acquisition packages but not so portable:

Look here, though I'm unsure what the record is: http://www.trackpedia.com/wiki/Brainerd_International_Raceway

I have some video somewhere on my computer of my viper on the short and the long course with the Go-pro camera. I can't remember sound or not but since the camera is ontop of my car all you would hear is the wind anyhow. In the past I had it mounted in the car but a glare on the windshield etc would throw it way off. We stick it ontop of my car and haven't had an issue.

I would try to load the vids but they are HUGE and I cannot edit them. Under 1:50 is GREAT!

I didn't realize it was you guys running the show over there. I loved the DVD.

I've been lusting after in-car video setups lately. Maybe for next year.

You get your car out on the track yet?

Probably hard to find that info for the short course since it is still fairly new. Your best bet would likely be to contact Gary Curtis or someone at BIR. It is unlikely that a street car has the record.

Was the track owner driving one of the yellow or red spec racer fords or was he using the car he has that looks more like a mini indy car? That time seems quick for a spec car. I thought I clocked him at the NASA event running around 1:50s in a spec car. It is possible that traffic was slowing him down though.
