Aaron is actually in Oklahoma right now which I'm sure is what he meant. I can keep an eye out in Dallas too.

The 5-speed tranny on the 2.0l is absolute junk though.

The 04-05 also had stronger gear sets than 02-03.

BANK? LOL good luck man :) I say save your money, buy a cheap car (even if it is a DSM) and start looking for a job like yesterday. Otherwise you'll wind up roaming europe and finding yourself, blowing all your money and paying for rent with a credit card until you get a part-time gig to start paying the bills.

Reality: its tough, but a good thing to deal with.

that sounds like my after graduation plan. I will be getting my bachelors in mechanical engineering from the U at the end of this semester, but definitely dont plan on starting to work anytime soon.

I read that the stronger tranny started actually in the late 03 models.

If you can afford it get a 06-07 WRX or an Evo IX. The interior quality improved greatly on the 2006+ WRX, plus it has the 2.5L engine. The Evo IX has a lot of subtle improvements over the VIII that really add up.

I bought my 02 wrx with 123K now has 147K I have had minor problems with it, lots of little issues mostly due to modding it and racing it. Mine is the 4eat which is much stronger than the manuals. Any car you modify runs the risk of giving you problems, as they say you can only pick two ..fast, reliable, or cheap.

If I were in the market for a newer performance car, I'd be buying an evo. I like the idea of being able to work on a similar platform to my current car, and not having to re-learn stuff.

It's great that most of you guys pay cash for things...keeps you out of a lot of trouble. I only put 50% down on my car. I owe quite a bit less than the insurance company would pay out so I'm not worried about it.

My credit score is pretty high. You can't get that without having loans and using credit. I put almost everything on AmEx and pay it off at the end of the month. Frequent flier miles!

My wife and I do the same, except its a Visa. The reason we do it is to get all the rewards and cash-back stuff. It seems like since we moved down here we've been getting $100+/month cash-back with all her travel for work and the purchases for the house. Using credit is great as long as you're responsible with it and don't carry a balance.
