This car was one of the testers for the beta BBK-XL. I've posted a couple threads about it before on here.

Now it has the final production version of the BBK-XL, the BBK-B.

Results where surprising.

2006 Evo GSR

Titek V2 tubular 02 housing
Ported stock exhaust manifold
CBRD BBK-B turbo
GST open cone air filter
Perrin FMIC
AMS LICP
Synapse BOV
Cosworth M2 mivec cams
FIC "BlueMax" 1550cc injectors

BlaqOps Progressive double pumper system
GM 3 port boost solenoid using ECU-controlled boost
Stock ECU (Tephra V7 ROM)
Stock MAF
Stock Intake Manifold
Stock Upper IC pipes
E85

33-34psi peak, 30psi out the top

I decided to overlay both 3rd and 4th gear pulls to show the difference a gear makes in spool up, and because of that, the torque and area under the curve differences. Obviously after seeing this, you should always ask what gear a particular posted dyno chart was made in.

On this particular car, at 4300rpm, there was a 100 wtq difference between the gears. That nice 2.3L breathing much better with more exhaust gases to the turbo with earlier spool in 4th.

518 whp / 509 wtq in 4th gear

510 whp / 464 wtq in 3rd gear

It looks decent, not great for a 2.3L imo. Sure torque is more than what I have on my car, but spool is worse than my car and overall power is roughly the same.

I still think the black is the way to go on the 8/9's....antisurge housing ftw.

What can we expect this turbo to put out on an Evo 8 2.0 with pump gas? Seems that everyone always has E85 and larger displacement with MIVEC when posting dyno graphs.

I would use my evo8 as a base example. Figure about 300rpm spool loss so 25psi by about 4100rpm but an extra bump in power up top so maybe 380-400whp on pump gas and 440-460whp on alky/e85 (at DB). I was (and still am) gunning for 400whp on pump on that dyno, and thought a conservative tune with ~440whp on the stock bottom end would be just dandy.

Go FPblack, you will hit 400whp on pump I bet :) Problem solved.

I'm just not sold that I want a turbo that big.
