Why the Hawver cast mani? Just wondering.

If the shells clean, make it awd!! I believe it's easier on 2gs, if I remember correctly. Either that or really good tires, cause you're gonna be spinning.

It is ugly but I like the design for a street car with a smaller turbo. Also you don't have to ever worry about blowing a weld, it cracking or having a pin hole leak in a weld. Kind of the same reasons I would get the cast O2 Housing and cast Exhaust Mani, just less to worry about.

Another thing would be MAPs Rev3 Intake Manifold, which I like even better now that I remembered about it.

If you're only going for < 450whp, don't buy a built motor. Just do a stock rebuilt 6 bolt and save yourself the money.

Stock 6 bolt rebuilt. . .If done by a shop what would be the average numbers in cost, that one should be looking at. Just a rough estimate. I was quoted 3k by my parents local mechanics. I called them crazy and left. I am thinking about getting my 6 bolt rebuild. Just a Basic rebuild.

that's the thing, since I'm still with the 7bolt, i dont wanna put all that money into it, then have the damn thing crankwalk on me. My uncle owns a race engine shop, and the plan was to do a general full build on the motor... cook the block, port and polish head, cams, crank, pistons, springs and retainers, valves all that good stuff, but idk if I should still do it with it being the 7bolt...

Motor has to be pulled either way, to do timing belt, clutch and flywheel. So I figured since I got the FP 68HTA turbo, that building the motor up would be awesome so it could handle the turbo but its still a 7bolt...

not all 7bolts walk. the evo 3 has a built 7bolt and has a very hard life and is still in great shape

I'd say a refreshed 6-BOLT STOCK, with a nice headgasket, good tune, and some L19/A1 headstuds you can make really good relaible HP

I am on a stock 6-bolt shortblock, stock headgasket, regular ARPs, and my car makes 450awhp at DB no problem. I've been making over 400awhp for about a year now with no troubles. I did a stock rebuild with ACL Race bearings, new rings, honed the block myself, checked all the clearences, etc, and slapped it together.

My 2 cents.

Get a junkyard 6bolt. Freshen it up. Do the swap in your car, make it pretty. That Billet 16G, with some E85 would be fun!

Definitely need injectors over 1000cc if doing the E85.

One Walbro 255 HP is enough for your goals

I highly recommend the FP Race exhaust manifold.

My refreshed stock 6 bolt by me has been making 400+ whp for over a year now.

Stock head (+cams), headgasket, shortblock
Arp regular headstuds, ACL race bearings
Stock rings, stock bore, oil squirters, no balance shafts

I would really suggest a turned down balance shaft instead. I hate the increased oil pressure that comes from eliminating them.

I say:

stock 6bolt swap
E85
Injectors over 1000cc
Single Walbro 255hp
ACT 2600 clutch and flywheel
*I've used both the fidanza and the ACT flywheels. I think the ACT is a more appropriate weight
*The ACT clutches are proven on DSMs. Get a sprung 6 puck disk, though
FP exhaust manifold
Don't really need an intake manifold, but it helps.
Cams. I have Brian Crower 272s (or get HKS) on stock springs and retainers. Works great.

I really appreciate the ideas! I believe I am going to stick with the 7bolt block... I already have a fidanza flywheel with a clutch I plan on using. Also got a 255hp pump, and plan on getting 1000cc+ injectors. Also do plan on getting an intake manifold, and fp exhaust manifold.

Here's a quick question, I'm selling my current FMIC setup, with all piping. I'm gonna go with short route IC piping, and a Greddy XL front mount hopefully... Is it better to stick with the stock 2g MAS or switch to a GM 3" MAF? I know the MAF runs in the IC piping vs. the stock 2g MAS being in the intake pipe right?
