Sounds like you should limp it thru the winter and find you a new shell. See my post about the warehouse space, i'll rent you some room to do your swap :)

That's the plan. Since I'm no longer throwing money at mods and am getting a few hundred back from taxes, chances are good that I'm going to forgo a shell and pick up something running at that point, but we'll see. It'll be a while before the snow melts, after all.

Yea, idk what the point of doing a shell swap would be, he's got a pretty stck car on a high-mileage 7-bolt (not that there's anything wrong with that)...a simple part-out and a new car would be the way to go if you're going to be done with this one.
It's a dsm though...sooner or later you (not the car) get to a breaking point and you need to just be done with it or take a break (if you can).

Or get a reliable Daily, and make the DSM a project like myself and many others have done

I was about there a week ago, but I've come to terms with the cost of having this fixed since and it should stay fairly reliable after this. Not having to deal with the work myself has helped, too.

Daily drive a dsm FTW! Only real men can do it.

So, I present to you, MitsuStyle, a picture I call... Two Core Supports.

Rust is ghey.
Regardless, I have my car back and it's running great, shifts great, and with the return spring on the pedal they replaced, it feels like a brand new car (well, that part does, the rest still feels 14 years old). Now I just need to bleed the brakes and my feet will be happy.

Wow...LOL! Glad you're making progress and the car is feeling better.
