My contract with AT&T expires this coming friday, so I'm thinking I'll switch to Tmobil and pick up the Mytouch phone. I hate AT&T.

I'm an Android guy so I say MyTouch although I would recommend the G1 instead.

The mytouch is decent, but most HTC phones are laggy and no where near as smooth operating as the 3gs. ATT sucks, but I would go with the iPhone. I know people who have both, and I wouldnt consider much else.

I have an iPhone and yes AT&T sucks balls, but nothing will ever be able to match the iPhones ability to accessorize, if that's what ur into. And as far as I remember T-Mobile probably won't be any better that AT&T because it is a GSM network as well so if u want service u gotta go old technology and get verizon. Damn I wish America was with the technology times so GSM would be the way to go.

Or just do what I did and ante up for an HTC Hero :)

And 311evo, the mytouch and G1 aren't laggy. I just have had custom ROMs on mine. The stock ROMs aren't bad. I loaded up the new Official Donut build on my G1 that just has Root access and it's pretty darn snappy.

If you just want a smart phone and don't want to work to hard at it, buy the iphone. Its a great all around phone, though a bit large in the pocket and hand. Tons of easy to install apps but you will end up paying for a lot of them and the OS isn't open source and locked down plus itunes will own you. Also with a lot of Apple products, they are trendy and you'll look "cool" to the masses.
The phandroid phones are great out of the box but they are definitely a geeks phone, way more hackable/modifiable than an iphone or any other windows based phone. If you are a linux/unix guy, this phone is even more awesome for you as you will feel right at home. So many base roms you can load, you can actually go out and buy a $300 developer phone and start building your own android setup and use it with any provider. I watched a co-worker load on the hero rom to his mytouch and now has multi touch pinch and squeeze like an iphone, real quick to navigate I almost bought this phone but I wanted to wait to see what other android phones are coming out.
I have see many developers at my company dump their iphone and switch to verizon/tmobile to get an android based phone. I was able to pick up an iphone for cheap from one of them. Now I am waiting to see how the motorola cliq and new HTC phone for tmobile look and maybe I'll get rid of my iphone.

I currently have the Iphone 3G, Have had it for a year and a half and had the regular Iphone for a year before that. I love the phone. I have only recently have had problems with it. Ever since I did the latest upgrade the phone sucks balls! Locks up every 20 min and dont get calls or texts until I reset the phone and turn it back on to 12 new messages. Besides that I wont buy another phone.
