Mitsustyle members please help! I am a Winona State University student in Dr. Williamsons public speaking class. I am doing an informative speech on “Street Racing”.
I would like to pose a few questions so I can get information from a local forum. All responses will be completely anonymous in my speech, if you feel like saying something but don’t want it in the forum for every one to read just message me and your identity will remain completely concealed.

I usually have my windows up and don't care for what other people say, but i'd probably step on it up to the speed limit depending on if there was a cop or not.

Haven't gotten the new car to the track, ran mid 14's in my last untuned talon, but did beat the fdsm :)

Yes, and back in the day a few times. (mainly an agreement to whoever loses pays the winner gas money for the trip to the boonies. :P)

It's fun, and it's a better hobby then a lot of others. also, putting the smackdown on clueless hicks with V8's is rewarding.

Right around 340 or so, Goal is around 400-420

60 ft; 1.71

no idea on the 0-60/100. 1/8th Mile time was a 7.68 @ 93. (thanks rev limiter..), never been to a 1/4.


Why do you street race?

It doesnt really happen anymore, I like to keep it on the track these days. Back in the day it was mostly to shut up cocky ass-hats, or to be "cool" i guess. (in the highschool days.)

I'd smoke him, assuming it wasnt in a residential area, heavy traffic, etc etc.

To have a car that I can drive every day and also have fun on weekends at motorsports events such as autocross and track days at road courses.

Unknown. 250 currently maybe, will be happy with 300-350.

I have never been to the drag strip, drag racing doesn't interest me.

I spend enough time participating in motorsports events that I don't feel the need to street race.

I haven't ran recently but last summer with my car running like crap I ran a 14.0 with a terrible 60ft. my best 60ft of the day was a 1.9



Why do you street race?
I don't anymore. but when I did my excuse was it's an adrenaline rush and it's free. the track is just as much fun but it's an hour and a half away and not frees

No. No.

Yes. versus a porsche 928 that happened to be speeding a little more than I was on southbound hwy 100. An undercover cop 'flagged us' and we were pulled over, given citations for careless driving (since they had no idea how fast we were going...not THAT fast). Turns out you can talk a DUI down to a careless driving, so the insurance company and any law-enforcement I spoke with about it immediately assumed I was drinking while this occurred...it was just wrong on so many levels. Speeding? Yes. Racing? No.

Why did you build your car?
You know when you ride a rollercoaster and you get that blast of adrenaline, a huge smile on your face, and you want to go ride it again? You know how clinical depression is a widespread problem? Well, I like to be happy. My car makes me happy on even the worst of days. I do computer networking, so working on the car gives me something to do with my hands, get my fingernails dirty. When I stomp on it I know why it does what it does. Accelerating quickly is fun, but perhaps more fun is giving other people rides. I can fig four adults in my car besides myself and still take them for the ride of their life! Again back to the rollercoaster. Having a fast car is fun.

Dyno Dynamics: 432whp/398wtq ~~560bhp/517tq

My goal was about 400whp on a dyno dynamics or 450whp on a dynojet.

Never been to the drag track, hopefully some day ;)


Why do you street race?
90% of the time, it'll only be with friends, on deserted roads, and we call it 'testing and comparing'...you'd be amazed how a 300whp DSM will do against a 450whp mustang cobra. Ultimately, for fun. If we weren't being responsible about it, it wouldn't be fun.

Certainly would not race them, angry people are not fun to deal with, being behind them means they cannot tailgate or throw stuff at me, I can turn around, stop, whatever. There are lots of horror stories out there about stuff like this. Often the thumbs up, middle finger, or simply ignoring them is the best.

No, and if I knew anyone that did or was trying to sell them, I would not only beat their ass, I would put them in the trunk and deliver them to the police station myself.
