Going Back To Stock...

...stereo. I was trying to get my ipod cable working the other day so I took my nice sony deck out to check the fuse on the cable and it worked just fine for another day, then suddenly just wouldn't turn on when I left MAP today. :( Anna bought me this deck for my bday like 6 years ago, I had it in my 1G, in my 2G, and my evo. It served me well, and I have had no real reason to upgrade it.

Anyways, I fiddled with it a bunch and could not get it to come back to life for any decent amount of time, so I thought about letting it sit in the car and rocking no stereo until I found a replacement. Then I remembered I had my stock SSL alpine**edit**infinity deck in my garage, so I slapped it in when I got home tonight. In the 3 years I've owned it, I *think* this is the first stock part I can remember putting back on my evo.

Now to shop for a new deck :)

Anyway, I really like the Alpine deck I have with iPod controls, but I've also always been a fan of Kenwood decks. Zac also just bought a really nice Pioneer with built-in Bluetooth and iPod controls.

Double din not out of the question, but it would get spensive b/c I'd have to relocate the hvac controls.

I have a alpine cda9856 that is just sitting around out of my rolla. has the ipod controls i have the same one in my sweet dsm.

+1 for Kenwood, I love the deck in my car. The iPod controls are nice, especially for trips with passengers, but I really just use the USB for flash drives loaded with music.

Aww, thx! :D I'm not a huge fan of the Alpine decks, styling is not for me.

Ultimately I want something that's clean, not too flashy when turned off, has easy to access radio presets and a nice ipod interface. I used kracka's Alpine ipod interface and we couldn't figure out how to play anything but a random track LOL.

I'll prolly wait a bit and just rock the stock deck...hrm, maybe hold out for xmas, evo mod money is saving for clutch and snow tires for the GLI...

What clutch are you thinkin? I dont mean to get off topic, just curious?
