Watch the review video on the touchscreen functions...just spin your finger on the face to adjust volume, slide left/right for track forward/prev....wonder how well that works in the winter.....

Ultimately I want something that's clean, not too flashy when turned off, has easy to access radio presets and a nice ipod interface. I used kracka's Alpine ipod interface and we couldn't figure out how to play anything but a random track LOL.
HAHA once I figured out the controls (it was set to random, just had to turn that off by hitting a button) I actually like it quite a bit. The only thing I wish is that there was a faster way to scroll through artists.

...or as you're bouncing down a highway. Sitting at a stoplight sure, but making intricate motions on a touchscreen is going to become a lot more difficult when you're moving on anything but a perfectly smooth road.

I've had quite a few systems in my previous cars (one swap was due to theft). I don't own an iPod but my favorite is Eclipse heads and CDT Audio for speakers. I've been very pleased with my last few systems, using those at the core.

Bah, the bilsteins will soak up the bumps, and plenty of practice operating touchscreen interface under less than ideal conditions w/ my iphone. :D
I'm sure there's other stuff out there, I got time to shop.
Just thought of a major downer to even thinking double-din, relocating my HVAC controls would also mean having to relocate my boost and Aquamist gauges...ehhhh.

you should get the one like Brian Spilners, I hear his stuff is awesome. lol.
On a serious note, when i read "going back to stock" i was in SHOCK! than i saw it was the stereo deck...phew. Anyways, a friend of mine had the dvd touchscreen in his Sentra Spec-V and i thought it was pretty cool but annoying in daylight because you wouldn't see much of the screen at certain angles, plus his car was bumpy as hell. other than that, it was pretty awesome.

Ever thought about a slide out DVD deck? That's what I have in my DSM and I love it. Mine is the Kenwood KVT-717DVD. It's a touch screen, but also has a remote control. It's kinda old and I don't know if they still make that model, but when it was new it was pretty much the top of the line Kenwood slide-out deck. It takes a separate controller box to control my Ipod through the deck, and the interface kinda sucks, so I just leave it on random, but that's about the only thing I don't like about it.
Another thing I like about it is that when I'm driving at night I don't have a bright-ass 7.5" screen glowing at me if I don't want it out, and when I'm parked it's hard to tell there's a deck in it at all since it looks so plain and bland.

scheides, I'd be willing to put the deck on my 12v power supply and checking it out if you haven't tossed it yet.
