There's a thin aluminum plate between the balance shaft pulley and the timing belt pulley that holds the timing belt away from the block, make sure that's still in place and make sure the large bolt holding those on is not loose. Another possiblity is that either the TB tensioner pulley or the TB idler pulley is worn and wobbling in there making the belt jump around.

My buddy says that he put the tensioner on backwards and it's pulling it towards the motor. Gonna tear it down again tomorrow and check things again. Just waiting on brakes and need to swap shifted linkages before it's ready to rock.

If James is right, you will see a line wearing on the outside of the timing belt. Not sure when my buddy/if he messed with the timing belt. It has ARPs I think so he must have replaced it.

Haven't touched the oil pan, and the cover has been off 3 times now, so I know there's no bolts down there.

I guess what he is asking is if it looks like something is rubbing on the timing belt. On a car of mine, a prior mechanic put too long of a bolt in the oil pan and the timing belt rubbed on it creating a grove in the belt.

I am guessing it is not the issue here but that is what he is saying. I would look at what Steve (Goat Blower) is saying.

What was the oil leak, the oil filter housing gasket??

The belt was new. I did the HG and ARPs on it. Maybe had 2 minutes of running time on that T-belt. Too bad your buddy put the tensioner on backwards.

John-The oil leak is from where one of the balance shaft pully bolts was, and since there isn't a pulley there, there was just an open bolt hole pouring oil out...haha.

Tehehodi-thanks, and youre welcome for the cover, isn't in the greatest shape. Sorry for not sticking around, I was wiped out from yesterday.

Julian-get a haircut

Slowbubblecar-yea they meant last night haha

Timing should be fixed today, waiting for my full brake set-up to come in from Iowa, should be here tomorrow or saturday.
