I have the oppurtunity to trade my PTE SCM 5031RE for a PTE SCM 6152E .The things to consider here is that the 50 trim is ball bearing and the 61 is not. The 61 has 1k miles and the 50 has way more then that. I am an auto so the ball bearing was nice. I am still on the stock bottom end and really dont want to build it up for awhile. I have no problem with the 50 trim and love the power it has.

What are your ultimate goals? If you don't mind not having an assload of top end power, stay with the 50. I prefer a turbo that spools at a decent enough rpm to make it fun on the street without breaking too many laws, so I voted for the 50.

Sounds like you're really happy with your current setup. I'd go with the BB 50.

I do like the 50 an i wouldnt mind keeping it and putting nitrous back in for that little extra power. But hey who dosnt like a bigger turbo. But havnt i heard a bunch of talk about the pte journal bearings not being so hot but their BB models are better, thoughts?

Isn't that one of swanny's old BB 50 trims?

I was seeing 20psi at 4200rpm with my scm6169. It is quite laggy but fun as hell once it gets going, but I have similar views to kevin, I like something that you can use on the street.

If you don't mind using nitrous, then I would say to keep the fiddy.

My vote went for the 50 trim. As mutch as I love my 61 Ive been thinking alot lately that a 50 trim would be a great street turbo.

With the auto the 61 might be a good setup too since you wont have high RPM shifting problems and the turbo will stay spooled between shifts. you could always keep the Nitrous to spool the 61 sooner on the auto.

I say keep the 50-trim. The center section is better and you have more usable power on the street. As far as building the motor, if you have a 6-bolt I wouldn't consider that an issue :D IMHO if you have a setup and you're happy with it, leave it. It's summer! Keep the car on the road, drive it, have fun, etc :) Have you looked into how to get more out of your 50-trim? E85 or alky injection? Bigger cams, tuning, SMIM, etc?

HAHA i got cams, smim, e85, double pump, dsmlink, i think the highest ive ran is 28psi. I sold the nitrous but my brother has a kit to throw in if i want it back

ya its swannys old turbo, still kickin with no play in the shaft

Have u ever dynoed it?
You should be making some damn good power with it, I wish I would of had money to buy one of those turbos.
If u ever want to sell it, let me know.
But to be honest i voted keep it, because it seems to be the best street turbo out there, responsive enough for everyday/practical use, but powerful enough to be stupid.

no dyno. the "dsmlink dyno" haha was telling me about 370whp, but we know how accurate that is
