Im with black rose, pull your mani at least and check for oil or burnt up oil up in the exhaust ports of the head. If its just really sooty but not oil soaked like it sounds like it should be chances are its not in the engine. For there to be actual oil in your exauhst system I would think you would of noticed a huge performance loss due to plug fouling for it to run thru the cylinders and then out your exausht in that way. Probably turbo seals.

Pulled plugs, all great condition. checked compression..all ok. Pulled the exh. manifold..runners and head looked dry. Pulled exh. off, saw oil sitting in exh. housing on turbo. ARG! This center section was brand fricken new! I run it fed from teh oil housing, no restrictor, as I was instructed. oil is 15w40. WTF! Now it looks like it overheated a bit, and now I gotta fork up a fricken grip to rebuild it? I'm selling this damn thing, and getting something else. FUUUUCK!

And you want another PTE turbo WHY?

If the center section was brand new, warranty it.

I'm sending them an email right now. I only suggest the 6262 for the price. That's it. Ideally, I'd get the HTA3586r, but that's WAAY too much cashola. Friiiiiickk..

Run an adjustable FPR on the oil feed line and have it return the excess into the pan. Then you can put a gauge after that and set it to 30psi max or something.

Just curious, but why are you running 15w40? That seems a little heavy to me.

I wanted a bit thicker oil for the car. I was just trying something different.

It's not abnormal to be running 15-40 at these power levels. Plenty of others doing it, including myself. Not sure if on that turbo, if running the feed from the housing without a restrictor is a good idea though. No idea what PTE recommends. Mine has a restrictor because that's what my turbo's supplier recommended.

Sucks to hear about your turbo. Stories like these are why I will more then likely never run a PTE turbo again (although I hear their BB turbo's seem to last a little longer).

Good luck getting it taken care of.

I was just thinking that since he's running heavier weight oil that it might have increased the pressure to the turbo. In this case, it could have been too much pressure. In my experience the thicker the oil, the higher the pressure.
