It will probably make it much less efficient and harder to make boost.

Less efficient than the stock housing. Gaps between the wheel and the housing are a bad thing, especially on the compressor side.

what he wants to know is if he takes an evo 3 wheeel and compressor cover an put them on a 14b will it make more power then a 14b

Possibly, but the exhaust side is going to hold it back some compared to a full Evo 3 16G.

Sounds like to me he doesn't want to throw the wheel in too, because then he would have to send it to be balanced.

i was just at his house it would be nice to use the wheel

Then I have to send it out to be balanced. Just want to know if I'll see any gains with the 14b compressor wheel and an e3 16g comp. housing.
My apologies, just didn't sound like he wanted to really spend money to make a minimal upgrade.
