View Full Version : So my car needs a new engine...
It would need a rehone with new internals. If you other deal falls through, let me know. I have a shop, engine hoist, air tools and everything you would need. I can also help with the job as I am going to school right now and not working.

Back at Metro State?
If I were you, I would just grab a junk yard motor from car-part.com. If you look around you will be able to find one with a warranty. I have gotten a motor with a 2 year extended warranty and a tranny with a lifetime warranty.
Worth looking into if you are looking to keep the car for a while.

I've decided that rebuilding it is the way to go. I'll know the history on the engine and really don't have to worry about it, since I'll be making it. I just don't wanna worry about what I'm getting, warranty or not. I'm also gonna do the clutch, flywheel and a complete gasket set. So I think that I won't have to worry about this thing for a while.
Plus I've also been playing around with the idea of saving up over next winter and puttin' a turbo on it, since it'll be a new engine and I can just make it fun and reliable, nothing too crazy, it's just a 626:p

I went to WyoTech, so I know what I'm doing, but I've never done an engine swap or anything that extreme before and would need help; plus I don't have the tools or anything I'd need to accomplish this task.
You have never even pulled a motor out before but seem to think you can rebuild a motor? I would have never thought you would try to rebuild the motor considering you called swapping one out complete.
Jet, what are you majoring in? I graduated there the end of summer 07 with Accouting and Business majors.
I will have a business major. He is swapping it at my place, so he'll have someone to guide him through it :p

Not quite sure what you're getting at there James. I am getting help, and it's not like it could possibly be that difficult. I've just never done it before. The only opportunity they gave us at school with rebuilding engines and whatnot was a bunch of shitty, trashed, parts missing engines that were on hoists and all the bolts were stripped. I know I could do it on my own if I had the tools and the time, but with someone helping that's done this before, maybe I can learn something while I'm at it and not fuck it up. Plus rebuilding it is a better idea to me since it'll last longer and with a used engine you never know what you're getting, warranty or not.
