Yep, I do a downpayment on paypal also. I have had too many people say they will pick something up and then never show.

I've had it happen too many times where I'll hold something for someone who said they are going to come get it, then they disappear. Money talks, promises don't (at least from someone I don't know or never dealt with before). At least he let you know before you made the trip out there. He simply sold it to the person who showed him the money first. Pretty much what I do as well. I just make sure to say in the add that there are NO DIBS, FIRST ONE WITH MONEY GETS IT so there is no confusion.

Buy Sleepy's 14b, he's a known good guy !!

Yeah, I agree with a few on here. Unless I know you personally, your word doesn't mean much. I've had lots of people flake on me when they promised to buy something, but I still try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I'm guessing there's a little more to the story though, I'm sure Kevin4G63T will chime in.

I've had a few things for sale on this board, and most people flake out. I would normally be the type of person to put the item aside and wait for somone to pick it up. After dealing with some on here and wasting 3hrs waiting for them to show up and no show/no call...I've changed my habits. Whomever gets the cash in my hand first gets it, no questions asked.

i didnt see anything wrong there? id do the same thing... ive held too many things for "buyers" that flake out... so unless there is a down payment or somethin, first with the cash in my hands, takes!!!

at least he told ya he sold it!
