Wow, I am glad I found this thread. I am running a set of 1150 FIC on E85 and haven't pulled the injectors yet. I didn't even know there was an issue... My car is running fine.

Is it still OK to run them on E85? What are the issues that they are having running them? besides the black junk which sounds fuel related.

I guess I better pull them to make sure that they are looking Ok

I pulled some 1200s out a car recently and it had the black goo bad. My wifes 1600s with a lot of miles on them with E85 were perfectly clean. I usually get E85 from the Holiday off of 252 and 694.

Ok Here are the pictures of what I found

I have the 1150cc FIC injectors and really I don't have that many miles on them and this is kind of weird...

So number 1 and 2 are just fine but 3 and 4 are gummed up? I don't understand. And did we figure out what this stuff is anyway?

Going to try to clean the injectors with a little gas

So this is making me want to switch back over to premium fuel now. Unless there is an injector that works with E85 and doesn't gum up. I am wondering if this is why I am having starting issues right now.

The tops to the injectors look fine so there is no black gum going through the injector on the fuel rail side. I wonder how my AFPR is looking right now though...

Thats messed up dude. There had to be a chunk of dino tar stuck in the rail or something. I would send that pic to FIC and see what they say. Maybe take the rail off and shine a light down it to see whats lurking in there.

I have seen worse and it didn't effect the car at all, it probably going to cause funky idling when there isn't much fuel flowing. At higher loads with a lot coming out at 40psi it is probably going to cut right through that gunk. I also have seen it more pronouced on the injectors closest to the FPR.

It would be interesting to send some of that gunk to a chemist or something to see what exactly it is.

A chemist on the Link forums already analized it!

I guess it's crap left over from using Diesel fuel tanks as e85 tanks.

Just use a little gasoline once and awhile and all should be fine.

On this it is more pronounced closest to the fuel filter and least closest to the FPR. Who knows...

There is nothing in the fuel rail itself. Everything there looks clean. Also the top of the injectors look clean.

I am going to change my Fuel Filter anyway again just to make sure and we will see what happens.

I need to buy one of those E85 sensor so I can hook it up and drive whatever ratio I want. That way I can run a full tank of regular and clean this out every once in a while.

BTW, cleaned right up with fuel and popped them back in and everything is good.
