I'm real curious to see what my 1250 FIC injectors look like now after running them for a few thousand miles. Previously I ran PTE 1000cc injectors for almost three years and 45K miles on E85 and didn't have any sticky looking black gunk, I only had very vey small carbon like deposit on two of the PTE injectors.

99% of the E85 I get is from a couple different Holiday's (Coon Rapids and Shoreview)

Carbureted race engines get this goo in the intake manifold runners. I never really looked down in the intake of my racecar to inspect anything, but I recently asked my engine builder and he said he's seen it before. The fuel is always bought in a drum and then mixed with gas to get a consistent mixture you can't get at the pump, usually premium fuel is what's added. I don't know if he has anyone running E98, never asked him, to see if it's the same with that. He also has engines running less than 85% ethanol, I should ask him if he's seen the goo in them at all.

I've been getting the goo on cylinders 2 and 3 but not 1 and 4 for some reason (1150 FIC). I really tired of pulling the fuel rail every couple of months.. So PTE is the way to go? Sounds like there's still some issues with the Bluemax ones? Or is it just something you have to deal with e85. Can anybody confirm that running regular gas through will clean them out for sure?

This should be stickied since E85 is MN pump gas.

Saying it in a sense that E85 is very common around here.

I have the PTE 1000's and have been running E85 for 6000 miles. Mine look great!

The PTE-1000's I have have been perfectly clean the 3 times I've looked at them.

My RC750's have been very gooped up both times, and the second time was only after like a couple months and a couple thousand miles. Two were nearly plugged and two didn't have much on them.

Needless to say, I'm now going to keep the PTE's in my car. I had some PTE-680's before, and I think I remember a little goo on them after about a year, but not enough to even care about cleaning it off.

I wonder if certain spray patterns allow the goop to build up, and other patterns just blow it away. Either way, if you look down in your intake ports you'll most likely see the goo in there.
