i kmnow what it is and that you do it to get rid of any imperfections and stresses on the surface of metal. but what i dont know is how its done. so....

how do you "micro-polish" something, such as a crank or transmission gears and such?

I'm pretty sure they are shot-peened.

wouldn't that dimple up the surface and they'd have to be remachined anyway?

Shot peening is a stress relieving technique, thats all I know. Beyond that I don't know and don't care.

obviously it was look at your link, none of that is nearly relivant. but your stupid ass obviously cant read. i was simply asking a question amongst car guys. seeing if anyone was worth a damn, and now i know that you arent. so i guess i have gained something from this.

and yes shot peening would dimple the material. shop peening is used to densin metals and so forth, you actually smash the metal together

Had you read one of the thousands of hits that search generated you would have found your answer.

I was being half smartass and half informative, if you cant deal thats your problem. :)

You'd probably use a tumble machine with a very fine media.

thats what i was thinking.

i did read na coup[le of those and found out a little bit about it but most of the hits that search came back with were for rem pollishing or car detailing. im sorry for being a dick i was just assuming you people would get my point about asking on the forum rather than on a search engine.

i did find out that they use a substance called micronite. thats about all i got out of it though
