Any local place in MN Twin Cities to get race helmets? I'm thinking local so I can try them on for a proper fit.
If I want to try a road course, I'd better start getting the right safety equipment for it.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I just bought one from Hitching Post they have Snell 2005s there. There's also MotoPrimo if you live down south and Midwest Cycle.

+1 for this place. I've gotten alot of my motorcycle gear there, and they have always had really good prices. Another place I would suggest is the Fridley Hitching Post. I've gotten all my bikes from them, and they gave me an excellent deal on the last helmet I bought.

I will also note that there are special helmets designed for auto racing if you'd rather go that route instead of a motorcycle helmet. They are generally lighter and are more resistant to fire; but they do cost more.

More than those Arai helmets?? The cheapest one I've seen of those is $550.

So then tack another few hundred on top of that for an Arai auto racing helmet. I'm not saying the cheapest auto racing helmet is more expensive than the most expensive motorcycle helmet. The cheapest low-end auto racing helmet I've seen is around $299 I think, whereas you can get a low-end motorcycle helmet with the needed SNELL certification for around $100.
