View Full Version : My new Car/License plate Question
I just got back picking up a 95 Dodge Viper Convertible as a "fun" car. Here is a like to the info:

I am going to need a front plate put on this car and cannot figure out how to as I am not going to drill into the bumper to mount one. I found a bracket but it is held on by suction cups. I am not sure that I want my plate flying off on the freeway when the suction cups wear out... Any ideas?
I know I will get a lot of attention from the police in this car, I just don't want to give them a reason to pull me over.

I personally wouldn't even consider putting a front plate on that (I don't on any of my cars) but if you insist go to the Dodge dealership and buy a bracket for it.
If you have something to sell please do so in the classifieds section.
I don't want to but don't want to give them a reason to pull me over... I have been pulled over and ticketed for not having a plate a couple of times. I think I will be targeted more in this car. I know it looks better without but I don't care to pay for the no-plate look.

make a bracket... use the dsm bracket and drill it onto the bumper support!
One issue is that the latch for the hood is under there (right in the middle) and I have to have access to it. Maybe that is why there is the suction cup bracket. I don't really want the plate to be hanging off to the side (not centered) nor have to remove the bracket to pop the hood... If it was my old 1g, I would just bend some L brackets and call it a day. I want this car to look a bit cleaner, not like I half assed the brackets.
In my dsm's they were drilled into the front bumper as I wanted to have a clear path to my FMICs.

There is a pretty active Viper club here in Minnesota. You should ask over there:

Someone must have a solution for this. I'm sure most Viper owners wouldn't drill into their bumpers.
But I agree with Kracka, I'd leave the plate off and take your chances.

dealer offers one that fits but screw the front plate vette owners never use them why should you
I think I am going to take my chances for a little bit atleast. I have been pulled over twice in the past for that. I believe the cops may have caught me speeding but didn't know how fast I was going.
I will have to check out the local Viper club, I was going to join a viper forum to ask some basic questions. I am 99% sure that they don't come with a front plate bracket nor that dodge even makes one. I looked at a couple of sites and couldn't find a stock one.

I had looked at a viper back when and there was a front plate braket that did come with the car.
