Wheelhop, do you work for Bullseye?
WTF I already answered that question. Do you have a real response (http://www.mitsustyle.com/forums/showpost.php?p=245227&postcount=16)? Or do you have as much to contribute as you have been? Where's frack (http://www.mitsustyle.com/forums/showpost.php?p=270012&postcount=55)?
Besides. BEP no longer sells Holsets. It would be nice to get another style/size/brand housing as a bolton for more options.
Oh, here's a place (http://www.pure-tuning.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23_65_121_548_899) were you can get new hx35 or hx40 turbos with new bolton housings affordably. I havn't found a place that will sell them new for this price yet. I THINK when they say "hybrid" they mean holset with a bolton housing as opposed to holset with stock holset housing. Because the say "hx40 hybrid" and "hx35 hybrid". $900 for a NEW hx35 with a new bolton housing is a good deal. $950 for a fast spooling bolton 650whp turbo is a great price.

900-1000 for a turbo isn't too bad of a price, but isn't really all that "low budget" of a setup that everyone rants and raves about. I paid that much for my BW with a T3 housing.

To he!! with BW. Bullseye sells those turbos! :)
Back to your comment. It makes sense. But think about it. T3 housing (stock housing) turbos are always cheaper. Take a look at how much a holset with a stock turbine housing will cost. How much does a bolton BW cost? The bolton s256 costs $300 more.
The budget minded builder can't get other brands used a dime a dozen. And if you have the opportunity, you have should weigh reliability, spool speed, compressor efficiency, rebuildability, etc.
. . . Just go with the hx40 with the .55a/r. Just watch the end of wheelhop's video.. That thing spools fast as hell for what it's capable of. I don't really see how there is this much debate about it. . .
Same hx40 car launching (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA619HJnqyA&feature=related). No studder or antilag in 1st.

If you look around the diesel forum classifieds and know what you want: what I paid (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/274459-holset-turbos-part-3-a-11.html#post151419091).
I could have bought a TiAL external and still been under $500 total.

theturbotrader has HX35 with bolt on NEW for $875.
Used Hx35 goes for 300-400 for a nice one, new housing is $380, and then add shipping. I might as well buy that new one for a bit more...
But I secretly kinda want a FP3065...

No $280 maybe, not $380. . . See here (http://www.timsturbos.com/BEP_Turbine_Housings.html). $630 ($350 hx35 + $280 bep housing w/internal gate) is $250 less. You can get an external gate o2 housing and TiAL external gate save $50 from not using an internal gated BEP housing and pay $1030 total! External setup that bolts on like an internally gated 20g turbo to your current exhaust system. . .
Why are you looking at the bolton hx35 when you're also looking at the fp3065 :)? They are different frame sizes. The hx40 can be had in bolton form; and in that form is proven to flow as much or more and proven to spool faster. Save the $500 for a SMIM.
. . . Oh wait, you need the vband o2 housing (http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FP&Product_Code=O2FP303&Category_Code=) or exhaust hookup for the FP turbo too. . . A portmatched evo3 o2 housing is fine for a bolton hx40. OR you can buy a tubular 3" with an mhi flange for far less.

Jesus wheelhop, you sound like me campaigning for Megasquirt...
I might have to try a hx40 on my suicide 2.4 buildup this spring, if nothing else for another data-point for us local MN guys.
Just out of curiosity, is BEP the only shop using mating mitsu housings to the Holsets? Are they any dyno graphs showing the difference between the T3 and mitsu housing?

The only shop that I know with a readily available housign. There are dozens of guys with other platforms that have had various garrett housings cut for the hx40 and hx35 turbine wheels. There's even a DSMer that has cut a used FP30 turbine housing and fit an hx40 onto it :) .
There's is no mph or dyno side byside comparison. The larger .70 a/r housign does spool about 400rpms later.
