If you don't mod it, why would it break?
I am sick of people blaming DSMs, its not the cars its the owners.
Shane sorry to hear about your bad luck but its a price we pay trying to learn this stuff first hand and saving a few bucks.

Ehh when I had my DSM it was meticulously maintained and it was still problem after problem... Almost every part on the car was new by the time I sold it. I do blame dsms. haha

My cars modded and I drive it like its supposed to be driven and its been the most reliable car Ive ever had.

Same with my S! My Evo has had more issues in a week than my S did in 3 years :)

i still point to owner, i have modded and driven the piss out of my DSM and it is reliable as any other 16 year old car i have seen.
But you are right DSMs are a little more touchy about maintenance and upkeep than most cars.

You started off with a car that was a basket case though, that doesn't count. I bet you aren't putting out the kind of power in the M that the DSM had either.

Thats true but im not counting the rebuild and body work and stuff to make it nice. When it was done the first time it was 16g-ed and almost totally stock. Then the mods came on it and a couple years later the 20g..

I do miss it though and would like another one on the side someday. I just know now that a reliable daily is necessary.

This coming from teh guy who blew off an IC pipe jsut after chris and myself did a clutch job on his evo!

It blew off at ~5psi, and the worm clamp was stripped. Not sure why it was even put back on the car, it was obviously fuct.

How'd that clutch job go? ;)

Fused to flywheel on launch #1, and my brake line came loose from the calipers hanging from it.. Might never launch it again, I don't want to waste any more time on another clutch job and tow :(

Get an evo then :D 330+whp and 50+ miles every day, and I generally do not drive it lightly unless I'm low on gas or alky :D

Going on year 4 with out a DSM. And I still have problems. Grand Am is running but about to fall apart. Festiva has a starting problem. Ugh...fuck cars!

Oh stop bitchin and pull the one sitting on the floor apart and use it as parts for the one in the car. There is your 40 dollars.

Thanks for the support guys.
Its not worth if for me to just throw a fork in there even though its my only car, the syncros are TOTALLY shot on all the gears and i don't want to have to take it off again for that. I am going to try to find a car to borrow for a couple weeks.
