Once you get a big turbo you start to like turbo lag. It makes the car easier to drive.

^^ I agree. You'll also notice better mileage when going to a bigger turbo for just around town driving. I saw about a 3.5 mpg increase when I went from my small 16 to my gt3076. But it's nice, cuz I can still get full boost before 4000 rpm if I decide to get on it

I got the motor out, transmission off, and the 2g starter plate off and ready to be put on the new motor. Also got the engine bay cleaned up a lot - one more wipe over and it should be ready to go.

I think I decided to take out the AC since I used it less than 10 times this past summer, I'll probably start taking that out Friday.

Also, the guy who sold me the motor is also selling his stage 4 shep tranny with 4 spider center diff for really cheap. He offered it to his friend first, but I'll find out in the next day or two if I am able to get it.

I have a bunch of pics, just no way to get them off the camera right now.

AC is over rated, but keep the power steering or you will regret it.

Oh for sure. I would never remove power steering from a daily driver.

Ok, much more progress today. I got the alternator and power steering pump on the new motor, got the cams installed too. When I got the valve cover off the old motor everything was really yellow inside, not much silver that I could see. I had to use the hydraulic lifters out of my motor and put them in the new one. All that is left now is to get the timing belts done and bolt on the transmission, then it will be ready to be put in.

Oh, I also got the motor mount ground so it fits with the 1g water pump, that's bolted on too. I'll probably put the turbo on it tonight as well. The AC lines and stuff are all out too.

Here are a few pics. I have way more, but it's too many to post. The first ones are of pulling the motor out, I was able to do it without help amazingly.

I also included a picture of some remnants of the balance shaft belt, I was pretty lucky it didn't affect the timing belt, no idea how long those were busted inside the timing belt cover.

Lastly I included a shot of the new motor with the valve cover and cams on, and also the old head that looks like it's made of copper.
