I wonder how well a news team would like doing stories on tow companies who send people to parking lots, and tow cars out of there, as soon as it's left there?

There have been multiple stories already on this. Sadly, its a fact of life that we just have to deal with. I tried taking on a tow company once, then my insurance company did, and pretty much it comes down to them doing nothing unless you actually take them to court which is going to require far more time and money than just paying the fine/fixing damage. I ended up just paying my deductible and my insurance company covered the damaged bumpers since it wasn't worth a court battle. I did all I could through the BBB though and complained enough to the University (Wisconsin - Madison) so they dropped them as their tow company and now use someone else.

I agree tow companies are usually a bunch of impotant pricks. My buddy parked his Durango R/T in a grassy ditch at a concert. It was not properly posted for no parking either. Anyway they could not get at his truck very good so they dragged it out sideway by his draw tite hitch; the part where you hook the safety chains up from a trailer. They bent the shit out of his hitch which was spendy as hell to fix. He took the tow company to court and eventually they ended up garnishing the guys wages because he refused to pay.

In the end my buddy spent more money driving around going to court and missing work that the money he recieved back was not worth it. I think they know they will have to pay but they want to make you suffer first.

That sucks about your car though, I was expecting you to say that you spent a bunch of money on some toys or peep shows, what a let down.

I am just so mad because there arnt clear signs posted, and what is up makes it sound like you only have to pay until 6pm. Plus there really is no box or anything to put money in. I am going to go over there the next chance i get to look at it and call the owner of the lot. Although i am guessing its a lost battle, I still want to make a point to the owner that they clearly took advantage or two girls, nicely dressed gettting out of a loud car because there were other cars in the lot as well with nothing on them that says thay paid!

Did they use a flat bed when they towed your car or put the rear wheels on dollies? If they didnt good luck with your center diff...

That sucks, but why risk parking there anyway? There are much better places to park for only a couple dollars. Next to the library there is a nice lot, for 3 bucks, and one block north of that its 2 bucks.

I am not sure what they used (I know they had both kinds) but I have already put well over 100 miles on it since Sat and there were no problems at all.....


I had no idea you had to pay there; I have parked there before and never had an issue. It was a last min stop so we were not really thinking, I would normally park on the side of the street and through a few coins in but there was no close parking and we were not planing on being there all night. I guess 10 mins was long enough tho.

I dont think I will ever take my car down there again because there are so many drunk and shitty drivers there and I would be beyond mad if anyone ran into or even tapped my car (which happened to my old car).
